Turn by turn navigation

Many people are saying that turn by turn alerts are not working. I just tried this a few hours ago on FW 12.22 and it worked for me. When starting a course, be sure to first select “more…”, then go into Route Settings and choose Guidance Alerts on.

Two problems however - the release notes for 12.22 state that these alerts are now on by default but that does not seem to be the case at least for courses created before the update.

Secondly I do not readily see a way to set route settings for navigation used in conjunction with PacePro.

Bookmarking this in the hope that it is the answer. Why is it buried away like this with no System-wide setting?! Do we have to enable this on a per-Course basis?!

So the TBT topic is a bit nuanced as we have collectively discovered in this community. To enable TBT alerts to be rendered, yes one needs to do as stated above for each course until Garmin makes this a default or a system wide setting.

The other half of this is the generation of the TBT alerts which Garmin Connect does (the generation of TBT alerts in the course is different than displaying them). There is a toggle to have those generated in either the app or PC web version of Garmin Connect. However this automatic generation of TBT alerts does not always work as intended. There are tools that one can use to add/edit TBT alerts as discussed in other threads.

I speculate that every second recording with multi band/all systems GPS might provide better data for Garmin Connect to create the best TBT alerts automatically but that has not been verified yet.
