Are you happy with e3?

Hi guys, i have enduro 2 for almost 2 years and pretty happy with it but thinking about upgrading to enduro 3, is it worth it? The doubt is in its appearance, to some point it looks a little bit cheaper cause less titan in it and plastic back ;))

Thank you for your feedback

  • на эндуро 3 красный свет не такой красный как на феникс 7х сс.

  • Changes done to E3 (compared to E2) that the influencers aren't talking about:

    • Slightly, but not significantly, better display clarity in many light conditions. Forget all the internet videos, you'll have to see this in real life and judge by yourself if that's worth an upgrade. The glass is still dull but it's definitely an improvement for readability over the E2. On the E2 you couldn't read anything in many shady light conditions unless the display was inverted, and even then it was a stretch.
    • In that respect, the behavior of the backlight is now somewhat smarter, it turns off immediately when the hand is lowered after performing the gesture. Rest assured you will need the backlight, but it'll be required less often than on the E2.
    • Flashlight isn't as bright as on the E2 any more - not a big thing unless you used in on the highest level on the E2 all the time. I use my E2 at level 2 to navigate in total darkness, so for the E3, that would be level 2 or 3, depending on surroundings. And yes, the red light is also a bit duskier on the E3.
    • The buttons are remarkably more firm which means that more force needs to be applied to press them. But they have inherited a flaw from the E2 which is that the pressure point isn't identical among them, or the "click" haptics sometimes changes. Especially the "Down" button is suffering a lot since it is used so often. Using the E2 for two years now, I can't say that the buttons wear linear over time, but they show random behavior, you have to click twice sometimes and other times they work without flaw for days. The E3 shows similar behavior but in addition the buttons are harder to press down.
    • The huge glass display results in a much thiner bezel with no advantage done to the display resolution. That said, the watch's display has become more fragile now especially when it would fall flat on the ground. It's recommendable to "watch the watch" to avoid dropping- or bumping it.
    • Removing the titanium bottom and enclosing the watch in plastic instead makes it remarkably lighter when it's worn on the wrist, so I'd see this as a plus on ergonomics, even though the E3 case is a tenth of a millimeter thicker than the already very thick E2. You probably won't notice the increase in thickness at all on the E3.

I really do not want to speak about the current firmware at this time. It's a typical Garmin product and hence you need to be patient for many months until it's fully usable. I hope that they will improve the hilarious black boxes that cover so much of the map and that basic features like turn-by-turn navigation, Sight 'N Go, Round-trip Routing, rapid battery drain and so on, will develop into something that is mature and reliable. If that will have happened, I would then recommend the upgrade to E3 because of the better display and because it is so remarkably lighter.

  • Amazing, thank u very much, decided to stay with e2, especially cause of flashlight, use it on maximum very often when walking in the evening and red mode at home at night
