Round-Trip Routing not working on Enduro 3

The feature 'Creating a Round-Trip Course', as described in the manual, isn't working on Enduro 3. These are the steps performed:

  1. Select Map
  2. Press Upper-right button.
  3. Select Navigate > Create a Course > Round-Trip Course
  4. Select the activity you want to use while following the course.
Enter the total distance for the course.
  5. Select a direction heading.
  6. The device creates no course. Instead, an error is displayed: "Route Calculation Error. Missing Routable roads in this area."
  •  this might need some attention from the software team..... I get the same error as the OP, HOWEVER,  only when trying it in the "map" activity. (If I setup a round trip route from within the "walk" or "hike" activity it will calculate it as normal and show me the route)

I'm running v11.89 and I've done a full reset after installing it.

I used a very slightly different procedure to the OP but get the same error if I start from the Map activity.

    1. Push the upper right button & select Map
    2. Press Upper right button.
    3. Select Navigate > Round-Trip Course
    4. Enter the total distance for the course (e.g. 5 miles)
    5. Select a direction heading - I tested all directions at this point (Any direction/ North, East, South or West) all bring up the error message below
    6. The device begins calculating but creates no course. Instead, it almost immediately shows an error: "Route Calculation Error. Missing Routable roads in this area."

Can you pass it on to the team please Laurie?

  • Hi zippyioa, agreed, it does calculate a route when I start from a walk, hike, or run.

However, there are more problems. Navigation to a POI or Sight 'N Go completely scrambles the screen.
Garmin Express does not see that a map is installed on the watch, it shows the space is occupied by "other files" instead. Looks like I got a bricked watch?

  • Give the hard reset procedure a try,  and failing that, a full factory reset. I put the process in the other post we are communicating in.

    Hopeful they fix it

  • Hard reset did improve nothing. I don't plan to spend more hours of my time in a complete re-installation of this watch, already wasted half a day riding this dead horse.

  • I can confirm that my enduro 3 with the latest update 11.89 also gives me the "route calculation error missing routable roads in this area"

when I select map,  navigate, create a course,  round trip course.

However,  if I select bike,  or walk,  run from the activity list first then creating a roundtrip course seems to work as it should.   It must be a bug when not selecting an activity first.  Hopefully they get it sorted out.

  • Does Sight 'N Go work for you?

  • I haven't used that yet.. Could you tell me where they may be a viable option?  Is that good for just pointing in a certain direction and creating a route based on chosen coordinates and direction?

  • Hello, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with the Round-trip routing. I have reported this concern to our engineers, along with the details you have provided so they can investigate this further. Thank you so much for your contribution.

  • Thanks,  I wasn't sure if you guys actually check these forums it's good to see that you do..

Just so I'm clear-    If you hit the activity button and select map,  then scroll down to create round trip it always gives me the  route calculation error roundtable missing,  but if I select an activity first and then run for example it seems to work.  I guess it's confusing because it gives us the option after map is selected.   It would be great if it worked from the map selection as well to avoid confusion since it's an option..

  • My Enduro 3 is not routing or navigatin. Alwats displays error
