Display clarity: Enduro 3 VS Fenix 7X Pro

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Tactical and considering an upgrade. I’m trying to decide between the Garmin Fenix 7X Pro and Garmin Enduro 3.

Due to my vision issues, screen clarity is a key factor for me. I prefer MIP displays and am not looking at AMOLED options for now.

Has anyone compared the Enduro 3 and Fenix 7X Pro in person? Is the screen clarity improved on Enduro 3?

In the past, I’ve used both the Fenix 6 (non-solar) and Fenix 7 Pro (solar). I found the screen on the Fenix 6 to be clearer.

Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

  • explain this to you from minute 32:31

Thanks, that's interesting, although it is not entirely clear when he speaks about the new technology not covering the MIP display, and that it now allows seing it better, whether he refers to the inner cells around the bezel no more partially obstructing the display, or whether they really do not use the Power Sapphire anymore, despite that it is listed in the specifications. Doubts remain till they deny or confirm the Power Sapphire technology in the specs.

The transparent solar layer above the display surface has been completely removed from the E3/F8. Thats a fact.

Power Sapphire technology in the specs.

Another error on the Garmin website. They probably don't have a name for the new technology.

  • Everyone that is bickering, I’ve had the Enduro 2 and now have the Enduro 3. The power sapphire technology is different. The 10% photovoltaic lens is no longer covering the display. The new Power Sapphire is noticeably clearer than the old technology. Also, YouTube is your friend. You can easily see this by watching DC Rainmaker, DesFit, Chase the Summit, Matt LeGrande, etc. They are on contact with Garmin while doing product testing and Garmin has made it very clear how the technology has changed. I imagine all products going forward (Instinct, Tactix) will have the new power glass/power sapphire technology.

  • Well with the F7 release they claimed the MIP display got upgraded to 256 colors in the specs, Garmin makes other mistakes too, not only in software.

Yes, that's how the pure F8 titanium model with "DLC coating" was sold on the Garmin websites when the F8 was released. Error. Has no DLC.

And according to the labeling on some of the Enduro 3 boxes, "DLC" was also advertised. According to the Garmin website, the Enduro 3 has no DLC. Errors keep creeping into the product descriptions. So don't always believe what it says on the website.

  • Apart from the solar aspect, is the sapphire glass on Enduro 3 better than on Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire when it comes to reflections and glare?

  • Sapphire on E3 is clearer than on E2, no sun-absorbing layer makes difference. Display looks clearer, no  blue mist.

Difference is in general the same as between Fenix7 solar and non-solar versions
