No turn notification during navigation

I'm having an issue in my new Enduro 3.  I'm a long standing Garmin user as I had a Fenix 6X for a few years and then a Fenix 7X Solar for 2 years, so it shouldn't be a noob error or RTFM issue!! (At least I hope not)

If I'm using navigation for a course on any activity type and I'm on any screen other than the map, I get no notification of a turn, either visually or from a tone/ vibration. The red guidance arrow rotates 180° once I go past the turn, then about 20+ meters later I get the off-course warning with a beep and vibration (so my watch tones and vibration definitely work).

If I'm on the map screen a turn arrow and distance counting down to it come up, but I get no vibration or beep when I reach it. This means I'm going to be missing turns unless I constantly keep the watch on the map screen (which I never do) and even if I do, unless I watch the screen constantly, I'll still miss the notification as it doesn't beep or vibrate.....

I've tried routes I've used in the past which previously sent turn notifications from my Fenix 7X watch screen. I've also setup new routes using both Komoot and Garmin Connect (making sure turn by turn notifications are set to on in the route before sending to my Enduro 3) I still get nothing on the Enduro.

I even setup a round trip route on the watch.... I got no sound or vibration on the Enduro at any turn.

I've gone through all the notification options on the watch, even in the 'Focus Modes' settings options for activities and nothing changes sadly.

Surely it must be a bug!? Or am I missing something?

  • Any news on the update? The navigation voice alerts are so irritating

  • Hey All, I just tried mapping on my run today and I didn't get any turn by turn direction alerts as well.  All I was able to do was see the map and the distance to the next turn.  I thought this was updated already?  I am on software 12.22 on my Garmin Enduro 3

Thanks for sharing this. I was about to buy one of these tonight

  • Hi,

Have you managed to sot this yet?

3 months for a watch designed to be used for navigation and no update is shockingly poor!

This watch is advertised with this feature. Please sort this ASAP as most users of this watch will expect to have this feature.

  • I'd personnally not bother. If I'd known this was an issue I'd not have upgraded from my Fenix 6x Pro.

  • Not working for me either and it’s driving me insane! Most horrible product experience since I bought my first cell phone in 2000

  • Hi, I’m using a Garmin Enduro 3 with software version 12.35, and I’m not receiving any turn prompt notifications—neither sound nor vibration. I bought this watch to use for spontaneous runs around my neighborhood, but I constantly have to check the map to know where to turn, which is really inconvenient. Has this bug been fixed? Or is there a specific setting I need to adjust? I’d appreciate any guidance. Thanks!

  • It’s horrible!

First of all you’ll have to turn on sound/vibrations in de ‘focus modus’. They are in the watch settings.

Turn by turn notifications still don’t work when following a pre set course. Only a single beep, or just nothing. Simple small things which used to work perfect on my old Forerunner (breadcrumb navigation wasn’t so bad after all!).

Notifications kind of work when you set the watch to ‘follow map’ instead of ‘follow course’ which is just stupid.

Also, today when I had the watch on ‘follow map’ (because I needed notifications) and loaded a pre made course it starts recalculating a new course way to fast to return to the starting point asap (and it just doesn’t show the pre loaded course any more). I was guiding a group and it was simply embarrassing I needed to ask clients to guide the route for me.
I only want the bloody watch to recalculate when I’m reaaaally of track, and return to the original course asap.

Do the people at Garmin actually run/hike long trails in snowy weather themselves???

Next Christmas the product maybe works the way it should be.
But will ask Santa for another watch brand instead I guess :-((((

  • TBT-Notifications work! Of course also using a "pre made course". You will receive beeps and/or vibrations and if a BL device is connected you will receive voice messages like "approaching right turn", "turn right" ...
But it is more than awkward to activate this feature and I see no way to have "guidance alerts" activated as a default for all types of activity.

To be sure that TBT is working you should do the following:
After loading your "pre made course" click on the “...More” option in the lower half of the watch and then go to “Route Settings”. There you can find the option to activate the guidance warnings.
It seems it stays active for the specific activity type unless you change it.

  • Believe me I know about these settings (also to turn on the notification for the pre made course on the watch itself, even when it’s already turned on in Garmin Connect, which is a stupid bug as well if you ask me). I tried them all! :-)

It simply doesn’t work on my watch!

No notifications or just a single beep with these settings when following a pre made course.

The familiar Garmin multi beeps 50meters before a turn are only there with the ‘follow map’ setting turned on. For me at least! Good to hear it works for other users.
