Maps updated via Garmin Express, but watch says "Update Available". Downloads via wifi fail at 100% with "Map Sync Failed"

I just got an Enduro 2 about a week ago. I updated all the included maps via Garmin Express, and I can confirm that the version shown in the watch is the latest version of TopoActive/SkiView/CourseView. However, in Map Manager, all of these maps indicate there is an "Update Available". I got tired of seeing that, so I tried to update via the watch, starting with SkiView since it's the smallest. I plugged it in, the map download starts, gets to almost 100% and then shows "Map Sync Failed". It waits 30 seconds, and does it again. Then again, and again, forever.

My OS is version 17.28

Try following :

connect the watch to the computer, delete the file "garmindevice.xml" via the windows file explorer.
Remove the watch from the computer and restart the watch.
Problem solved ?

I deleted the Map Manager App on my watch and reinstalled it and it fixed the problem

There's no option to remove and reinstall the app on my watch. One can only remove it from the list, but it doesn't do anything.

Try following :

connect the watch to the computer, delete the file "garmindevice.xml" via the windows file explorer.
Remove the watch from the computer and restart the watch.

If not, reconnect the watch to the computer and synchronize the watch once with Express.

What is the reason for the assumption that it is a FW problem?
If Express says the maps are up to date, but the map manager on the watch incorrectly says updates are available, then try my suggested solution.

If you have a MAC :

Apple does not support the MTP (media transfer protocol). Therefore you need Android File Transfer to see the device on the mac.

Close Express including background activity. Then open Android File Transfer and connect the watch to the computer.

It may take a moment for the MAC to recognize the watch and display the file window.
