Frequent "cadence lock" since update to 13.22

For a few weeks now I have been having constant problems with the HRM Pro Plus, Polar Verity Sense and wrist HR. Now I have no choice but to turn off the measurement because the values are ridiculous.

It used to happen 1-2 times a month, but now it happens almost every day. Is anyone else experiencing this after updating to 13.22?

RUN: HRM Pro Plus (peaks to 190 beats, averge heat rate at least 30 beats higher than usual)

RUN: Polar Verity Sense (average 175, max 190, heart rate at least 30-40 beats higher then usual, hear rate is similar like respiration rate)

WALKING: Wrist HR (at the end 140 pulse)

  • At optical sensors such as the internal wrist HRM, or the Polar Veristy Sense monitor, the cadence lock is common, and there is not much you can do against it, apart of trying to change the fit or position. However, getting a cadence lock with a chest strap such as the HRM-Pro is highly unlikely, since it detects electrical signals, and not sensing the blood flow optically.

I suggest recording the HR using the external sensors simultaneously connected to a phone app - both the HRM-Pro and Polar Verity Sense work also over BT, so you can do it with any phone, using for example Strava or a similar strap. No need for an ANT+ phone, so easily done. You can then compare both graphs - from the app and from Garmin Connect, and see whether the watch, the HRM, or your physiology is to be blamed for the high HR.
