GAP - Lap & Average

Love that Garmin have finally joined the grade adjusted pace party however it’d be so much more useful if we could have data fields for Average & Lap. I find them far more valuable than real-time metrics when using GPS (even with multi band being as good as it is).

Is this in the pipeline and when might we expect to see it, Garmin?

Cheers.

  • Are you sure you do not have the avg lap GAP in the Laps table? Did you look it up in GC Web or on the app? If on the app, you need to turn the phone to the landscape position and scroll a bit to the right.

  • I'm fully aware lap averages are available to view post workout in GC, however my questions is specifically linked to data field availability on the device i.e. currently only real time grade adjusted pace is available.

My feature request is for a LAP and AVG version of that field to be added - hopefully this is achievable given the model to derive GAP pace has been developed and implemented currently.

    Make sense?

  • OK, I see, I misunderstood the question. You could try suggesting it to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin, but a quicker solution may be resorting to a CIQ app - there are some Data Field apps for GAP, so check whether they offer the lap averages too, or contact their developer to see if it could be added - I bet it will be quicker than waiting for the modification from Garmin. See for example the app GAP - Grade-Adjusted Pace, but there are some others as well, in the store.

  • I would like also to have support for this.

Average lap GAP and Average GAP are valuable data fields for trail runners or anyone doing hill intervals.

The app only allows you to have either Lap GAP or Average GAP data field, not both -.-
