You suggested he get the X50i.

The X50i does not replace the Mk3. The X50i is only usable for diving.

The X1 he wants replaces the Mk3 but also has a bigger screen.

Yes. Then he would have the X1 which he clearly likes and a nice dive computer. These you can also buy and these exists. It's a solution that can be done now. Not needing Garmin to create any new SKU for him.

If that would have worked for him, he would have done that (the obvious point you just keep ignoring).

It's like you have some rule against people discussing what they want. If they were only allowed to have what existed, we would sill be living in caves.

What he wants (obviously) is one device: basically a Mk3 with a bigger screen. Obviously.

I was aware of x50i, I remember another poster discussing wanting a garmin with that form factor just prior to its release, but perdix with ai is better as is ostc or ratio imo, more decompression algorithms more flexibility cheaper, better as a main but for recreational diving a big screen dive computer like peregrine, luna, eon, genious or ratio is better for recreational and much much cheaper than x50i 

BUT this post was about an every day wear mk3i with same shape and screen size as venu x1.

I really don't understand jmto fixation on x50i or why its even inthis thread, but prudence demands completely different makes of dive computers for main and backup imo

Either way, it's extra.

What he wants would  likely cost more than the X1.

So, it's about the same amount extra either way.
