"Dive Network & Air Integration" option does not show up in Mk3i

Not sure where to ask this question so I will do it here. It's pretty weird, but my Mk3i is apparently setup as an Mk3 and does not have the option "Dive Network & Air Integration". I bought a transmitter T2 and I have no way to pair it because the watch simply does not even have the option to do so. Is there anyway to re-install the Mk3i software and override Mk3?

  • Hi.
If your app recognize your watch as MK3 is MK3 not MK3i.
I don't know where you bought it but probably somebody cheated you.
As far as I know, there is no known way to instal software from one model to another.

I strongly suggest contact Garmin support directly (over the phone would be the best way).

  • Yes, Garmin Connect Mobile says: Descent Mk3i - 51mm, Garmin Dive says Descent Mk3i. Backside of the watch it says Mk3i.

So if the hypothesis is that the software is wrong, what does it say back the watch? I mean like, if they have sold you a wrong watch and you haven't noticed that before now.

  • Also I think it's not like the software can make it air integrated. I think the non-air integrated versions don't have the SubWave communication hardware as why would they? Also there is no firmware switching from model to another.

Also what is the watch size? 51mm doesn't have non-air integrated version, but if it's 43mm then it has that.

  • Guys, read my replies before suggesting things please. The backside says Mk3i, and I bought the watch on the official Garmin store. I am not using local support because I am literally in the middle of nowhere, and don't want "replacement" as the only solution because it doesn't do much for me right now. If you don't have any new suggestion, please don't reply. Let others that may have see the useful part of the message thread.

  • Well.. If you would have just answered not explaining irrelevant stuff before your answer one could better notice that you did answer that question.

But no need to get bitchy, not the way to get people want to help you. BTW. Me replying this raises the topic always to the top, which helps visibility also.

But anyways, you are your own. Only Garmin can help you and that is also most probably watch replacement.

  • Only one suggestion comes to my mind except calling support is to set the watch in service mode and force software reinstall, maybe something goes wrong during last software update.
But you have to search how to do this on your owe, I saw it in Internet some time ago but not remember where it was, and it was probably related to Fenix model, but from software point of view in reality Fenix and Descent are not so different.

    Good luck.

  • Jmto, I think one could better notice that I had already answered, if one actually read things and didn't just want to say something to sound smart. I don't want more ignorant messages or "visibility", I only want replies from people that knows what they are talking about, not "randos". So please, don't reply.

Adam thanks, I had read that the software is very similar to the Fenix 7s, so maybe it also has a service mode as well. I'll look into it. Appreciate your feedback!

  • Is it 43mm or 51mm version?
Menu -> system -> about: and scroll down
Is there anything that states subwave version?
Does it show Mk3 or Mk3i there?
While in this menu, press light button 8 times and from new menu select: Reinstall software.
Although i'm pretty sure that if there is some glitch from manufacturing this does not help. Worth a try anyway.

  • had you contacted support to begin with, you'd have the issue fixed already...in any way it is either you not doing something or software issue. in any way the best way to troubleshoot is the support!!!

  • Yeah that's the thing:

    I have SubWave version 2.3.2

But further scrolling down shows Mk3 instead of Mk3i. I also tried the new menu and unfortunately didn't work, it came back normally as Mk3. Thanks for the helpful suggestion though, I wasn't aware of this array of options, maybe fiddling with some can work
