Love the new tech diving data fields. Thanks a lot
People were complaining that Fenix 8 have snooze mode and Descent don't.
And now we have it, exactly like it is on Fenix 8.
I could say "be aware what are you asking for" ;)
Yeh, I really don’t get the point with the new Dive snooze when we already have pool mode. It pretty much seems do the same thing, you have to set it every day and it reactivates automatically at midnight again…
But it's not the same.
Pool mode is meant to be used while in a pool doing stuff like CFW training where you might want to have your dive data but not log the dives.
Snooze just doesn't activate dive mode altogether. It makes sense that they would add some sort of automatic reactivation because its a safety risk otherwise.
In the end of the day you bought yourself a dive computer smartwatch, it's going to have dive computer features. I don't think it's a big deal to have to snooze it once for the day you plan to jump in the pool, even if that's several days in a row. It's a device meant for scuba diving.
Well, I would bet 90% of the customers use it like me, an ordinary sports and daily watch for all the year around activities. And then use it as a dive computer one or two weeks a year…. I had the Mk1 Mk2 and now Mk3. The next one will be Fenix with dive features. Wonder how many customers are like me, the Garmin will loose 80% of the Descent customers going with Fenix instead…
Not sure how many people would pay such a premium just for two weeks a year, but maybe they are more than I thought. Point stands though that this is a dive computer and is bound to have such functionality.
Well, my wife had an Oceanic. A dedicated dive computer, and you could turn off the automatic starting… They call it wet mode, when it start automatically. I think it should be possible to turn if the automatic dive start on a general sports watch like the Descent. But we will probably never get it… I just change to Fenix next time…
I mean it's fair to have the option I guess. Didn't know about the Oceanic but generally speaking having a permanent "wet mode" is kind of an ongoing theme amongst dive computers. And I could see the safety benefits of that. Other than that, sure, I think for more casual diving the Fenix is the watch to go for now that it has diving capabilities.
