Descent Mk2i cannot pair with Connect for iOS

The GPS of my Descent does not work.

First I reset it to default and went pairing. Connect did find the Descent Mk2i and offered pairing. But it never succeeded. I relaunched the app and reboot the phone. No luck.

Then I skipped pairing on Descent and set it up on its own. I reset it again this time both default and clear data. It was still not working.

Any solution? Many thanks.

  • One more thing. It is an APAC Descent Mk2i.

  • Hello

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For this, there are a few initial troubleshooting steps I would recommend trying.

    • Is the watch on the latest SW version? To checking for updates to the APAC watch, you can use Garmin Express.
    • Does the watch list the wireless version and GPS version? Menu, System, About, Scroll down. If either of these are showing as 0.00, this would be the reason this is not working.
    • If the wireless version is listed, I would recommend trying these steps to pair again from scratch:
    1. Uninstall the Garmin Dive app and all other apps.
    2. Clear the phone cache and history
    3. Ensure the watch does not appear in the phone's Bluetooth menu. If it is, please remove the device
    4. Powercycle the watch and phone. To do this, hold the Light button until this shuts off. Then power on again
    5. Reinstall the Garmin Dive or Connect Mobile apps
    6. Try the pairing again ( Be sure there are no other Bluetooth enabled device nearby)
    • If there is no change, I would recommend trying a factory reset with these steps:
    1. Ensure the watch is powered off.
      • You may need to hold LIGHTfor up to 30 seconds to turn the watch off.
    2. Press and hold BACK and START/STOP.
    3. Press LIGHT to power the watch on while holding these two buttons.
    4. After the first beep release START/STOP.
    5. After the second beep release the remaining button.

If this is still not pairing, or connecting with GPS, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support.

  • Laurie, thanks for your reply.

I have found out what the the culprit was.

I have to remove the Descent from paired Bluetooth devices before pairing again.

It is late now. I will try the GPS tomorrow.

  • I am happy to report that the GPS works now.
