At this point, 3 different MK2s failed the same way for me within a few months.
About 6 months ago the watch suddenly turned off and I couldn't turn it on anymore. I connected a charger but it didn't react to it. Garmin support suggested some steps, but nothing worked, and they sent me a replacement.
The new watch failed the same way in about 2 months. Suddenly turned off, and never turned on. Garmin sent another replacement.
I got the new replacement at the end of January, and a few days ago it showed that the battery was 10%, then the watch offered to turn on energy saving mode, I clicked yes, and the watch just turned off. Again, I can't turn it on. Doesn't respond to a charger.
I know that the charger works because I have another Garmin MK2i.
First of all, I'm so happy with the Garmin support. They were super responsive and sent me a replacement every time. But I'm puzzled and very concerned about this situation. 3 watches died in the same way. I don't know what causes all these watches to die on me. I'm pretty sure the watch is great, but there is something in my case that breaks them. Unfortunately, Garmin support can't tell me what happened with the watches I sent to them.
I am a nurse and I have a card reader at my desk to get access to a computer. The reader is pretty close to the watch when I sit at the desk. This is pretty much the only potential reason I can come up with. I'm going to wear the watch on the opposite arm from the reader when I receive the new replacement.
Also, I wonder if there is something in my Garmin Connect that gets synched to every watch that breaks them. I'm going to keep the watch completely stock and don't install any watch faces or apps. I wonder if need to register a brand new Garmin account, just in case?
If anyone has a similar experience or any ideas what happened to my watches I'd be happy to hear!
