I have recently updated my Descent Mk2i to 22.10 AP. Now, every time I look to the watch, the display is turned off. I have to click a button to wake it up.
Is there a way to make the display always on as it used to be?

The issue is escalated to our SE Asia/APAC engineering team to be resolved as soon as possible.
I may be wrong but are you occasionally seeing a blank/black screen upon receiving an alert such as email or other sources? I don't have a solution, but am seeing this about 1 out of 10 messages or similar…
A little update.
I believe it is related to notification as @islehopper suggested.
And The only button that brings the display back is the back button.
I have updated the subject to a bug.

To recover I either long press the light button (10 o'clock) then the back button and the message/alert displays. Otherwise I ignore and it reverts to the watch screen after the normal time out period.
Bottom line: it's a bug that needs to be fixed.
On the positive side no other issues seen (running, diving, music, Garmin Pay, scrolling, timer, etc all working normally).
Thanks for your answer. But no, I am not talking about backlight. The backlight has been the way it was since I bought it.
However, after upgrading to 22.10 Asia Pacific firmware, my Descent shows a blank screen without backlight until I press a button. Gesture cannot turn on the screen. It does so even when a notification was making it vibrate.
Thanks for your reply. I can't be certain about whether it happens only on notifications. Notifications do increase my chance of looking at it though.
Mine case is a bit better. A brief press of a button as usual brings the screen back along with backlight. No oxymoronic long press required.
I would have guessed it is a bug as well but I would like to make sure it is not a new "feature" before.
@Garmin - Chris, could you forward this to the relevant person to investigate?

Getting this same issue, only way to move off the black screen is back button for me. Unsure if related, but it also seems like HR broadcasting is interrupted during notifications now as well. I have my watch set up to normally not broadcast HR, but to do so during an exercise. Normally, to use my peloton, I open indoor cycling and the broadcast is picked up. Since my watch has started showing a black screen with notifications, receiving a notification during an indoor cycle breaks the broadcast. Broadcasting via the setting menu to only broadcast HR does not seem to show this bug.

I am getting the same issue.. as well as the weather app is being a bit strange and not showing the temp sometimes as i have it set to my screen. but more importantly i am getting the black screen when getting some notification sometimes.
I haven’t same issue as exactly as described with all above, I did even reset the watch and reconnect all data, it’s doesn’t solve the issue. Everytime notifications come in, it’s just turn screen blank. Please fix it. It’s doesn’t happen before. Own this watch for nearly a year and half. First time having this issue
Sorry for auto correct, I have same issues with all above
