update broke all watch sensors

Hi There,

after the 22.1 update my watch does not measure the pulse, the oxygen, the amount of steps anymore, it tells me not to dive as the pressure sensor is not reachable.

update 22.2 did not resolve any of those issues.

what to do?

any suggestions?

Regards

Axel

  • I am sorry you have issues with your watch.

    Please try the following:

Soft reset your watch by holding down your top left button until it powers off then let go of the button.

    Reset to Defaults:

If your sensors are still not working, go to your System > About menu and go down and look at your Sensor Hub and other sensor software versions. If you say any 0.00, it is your Sensor Hub software that has failed and your watch will need to be exchanged. Please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Second one is the case, but how did that happen? Is the repair within a warranty?

  • I am sorry, I do not understand your question. The issue you have given above is software based.

If you have a hardware issue too, hardware issues just like software issues, are both based on the warranty timeline. Unless there is physical damage which voids your warranty.

Whether or not Product Support in your country will charge you to exchange your watch for a recertified Descent MK2i, I do not know how long you have owned your watch or what the regulations are for your country.

Since I am in the United States, I can say both North and South America have a one year warranty. Forums customers I have worked with advise me they have different amounts of warranty time depending on their country in Europe.

  • There is no hardware issue. As you say it is software.

and I can fully understand that if a hardware component fails, this might happen sooner or later, but if a firmware update leads to a useless watch, this can only mean that the coding contains serious errors and this has nothing to do with warranty or not. This should go.beyond warranty, as it is purely related to Garmin’s bad firmware. Proved by the release of a second one immediately after.

my watch is about 6 month out of warranty, I will learn what the Garmin people will tell me when I contact them on Monday.

I confess that I am really disapponted..

Please be sure to point all the details you have mentioned. If you were in North or South America I would personally be happy to take care of you. I can see your country in our order management system but I cannot process an exchange. If you run into any issues what-so-ever, feel free to highlight my name and send me a Private Message. I will be happy to get involved and will do everything possible to give you an assist on the matter.

  • Can you please send me the old software?

  •  On our end, I show you are using the Descent MK1 (gen 1) vs. the Descent Mk2 series. I am sorry, I do not have any software for the first generation. Other Descent owners might have it to give you in our forums but it might be difficult to acquire.

  • Yes I have the 1 I hate how the 2 looks and this watch has only been used 10 weeks. We have friends that have the same one so we did an experiment and everyone that installed your update moving off the 6.1 watch no longer reads depth. So can we just bring them in and have them replace?

  • I did, and Garmin Italy offered me a refurbished mk2 at about 10% of the new watch’s value.

i did accept, but still think this is not fair.

my next dive watch will not be Garmin again.

  • im update 22.2, diving depth sensor fail, send back warranty, replace new one ady
