Purchased MK2i full option (5WP001770) on July 24, 2023.
Noticed inaccuracy while openwater swimming. A fixed round is approx 1400m and in may occasions the distance after one round fluctuates up until 1900m (steady crawl stroke, so hand is above water frequent)
Tried various combinations |GPS+Gallileo and GPS+Glonass|
Made a call with Garmin and RMA-ed product back and received a new replacement (5WM009042) on September 28,2023 and this watch appeared to have same intermittant inconsistancies.
Both clocks had identical software releases on it . I can't recall the excact versionbut the release before 22:20 at the time of testing. (I update alwasy all s/w via USB at every charge)
I asked Garmin for a solution or a potential change to MK3i (with extra payment), but was not possible, which I can understand.
I assume myself that the GPS sensor has a flaw since the fenix 7 pro does never have this issue. A collegue of my has such watch and that one is consistant in measuring.
Testing is quite time consuming to swim a round, change settings of the watch and swim again. But I had some good results when I fully power cycle the watch and start open water swimming mode afterwards.
Is there any advice or solution available for this issue or has similar cases been reported on other wathes that use the same underlying technology?
