Updating T1 transmitter without an air tank.

I see that there is a new firmware version available for the T1 transmitter, I do not own a scuba air tank, just rent them when I need one. I believe the only way to wake up a T1 transmitter (to perform an update) is to mount it to an air tank with more than 500PSI (far more pressure than my garage compressor can create!!). I would like to install the firmware update, but don't want to drive the 40 mile to rent a tank to just wake up the T1. Can the T1 be turned on remotely to program/update without connecting it to a high pressure air tank? Maybe just bringing am MK2i near to the T1 will enable it, The manual doesn't mention this, so just wanted to ask if there was an easy way to update the T1 transmitter without needing an air tank?
