Any reason not to pick the Descent mk2s over the Fenix 6s?

Have a Venu and decided to upgrade to a Fenix 6s, but last week I got my PADI open water and now I'm totally hooked on diving. I love every minute of it. So now I'm reconsidering if I have to upgrade to a Fenix 6s and go for the Descent mk2s instead. I've been comparing the 2 and except for the price there doesn't seem to be a downside choosing the mk2s over the Fenix, or am I missing something? Any thoughts on this?

The only different between mk2s and mk2i say is half the battery life and no air integration, apart from that theyre identical, optional colours aside, as for fenix 6 my understanding is its software is more upto date compared with mk2 line of whatever size having less software functionality, though i have no idea what that is.

Fenix 6S - Firmware updates with possible additional features more often, maybe every 3 months or so.
Mk2s - Firmware updates maybe every 6 months, due the more rigorous testing to ensure no adverse impact on the SCUBA side of the device

Fitness features are essentially the same.

Mk2s - If this has all the fitness features you need right now, then this is the one to rule them all.

Thanks for your insights. So in short, the Mk2s is a Fenix 6 with diving capabilities and fewer updates.

That's the one I'm gonna order then!

This is good info. So do you know if we'll get the latest firmware updates? Which model firmware updates do they follow - are they all common?

I noticed the Forerunner LTE got a few new activities that I would love to try on my Mk2s.

Only Garmin know when Firmware updates will come and what would be included.

If you buy any of the watches they produce, ensure it has the features you need at that time, rather than expect them to add what you may want later.

We will probably eventually get all the same features as the Fenix 6 but it could take a long time. The Forerunner 945 LTE has significantly different internal hardware so we'll probably never get some of the new features on that device.
