I have just recently purchased the MK2i, question is can it record bouldering and rock climbing, I have the delta tactix and that is able too.

Why we woudn't? It was the same story with MK1, finally they delivered... For now MK1 is updated up to ver. 19.10 of Fenix 5X, so is missing only two small updates after that point... It took them ages…
I am simply stating not to count on it. It might, but it also might not. It is fair to be optimistic, but I'd consider it a bonus as opposed to expecting it.
It will support those... We just don't know when Garmin is going to release an update of the firmware... At the moment we are stuck on the firmware level of Fenix 6x ver 8.10...which is already 11 months old... Unfortunately recent Descent Mk2 firmware was based on this version and the only thing we can do is to wait for an update...
To be fair, I don't think we even know for sure that we will ever get those updates. It's a niche product that requires extra dev and QA time for any update.

Thank you all for the support in replying, well lets just wait and see. Hopefully Garmin will hear us as these are not cheap.
Again thank you All.
Hello Mariomobiel,
You have definitely made my day, thank you.
what version are you on as I'm on 4.10, as I don't have those options yet?
It seems to me that I was right... :)
It makes me incredibly happy to see this screen and what's behind it.... :)
I sure hope they make it further than what, 8.73 that added indoor climbing? I'm not the least bit surprised that there are builds for the descent on that version. In fact, I'd be shocked if there weren't much newer builds internally. It's the matter of QA time to get to a release state, assuming they don't find any major bugs from the differences in firmware and hardware. If you don't think a corporation the size of Garmin wouldn't dare pull the plug on the necessary dev resources to get to a release, then you've just never worked in development at a large corporation.
I never said they certainly won't release Descent builds that pull in new features from the Fenix line. I'm sure they're working on it, and hope much newer builds than that see the light of day. I'll still consider a bonus as opposed to expecting it. Because I have worked in development at a large corporation and know how the winds can shift on edge products like the Descent.
