T1 Transmitter w/MK2i thoughts

Had a chance to test these two items out for a bit today in open water.

Overall thought they performed well together.

The subwave technology is legit as I tested it out for 30 mins or so between depths and distances using reels to gauge distance and had no problem averaging 35/40' of distance. Would get occasional interference and lowering of signal and couldn't get a real idea as to why.. perhaps visibility/turbidity of water at moments?

Battery on the watch lost 4% over an hour while paired and transmitting. As for how much the battery lost? Can't say because there wasn't really a way to tell.

I would say this could be something that Garmin can work on/add as time goes on...a graphical display for the battery either on the watch or through the app.

Upon opening the package yesterday the battery was low out of the gate. Changing the battery is extremely easy and uses a CR123A.

Once it's back up all you can see it's 'good' under information details for the battery life. It takes some hunting and wish this had more detail, easier to find.

That's my initial thoughts on the watch with the transmitter.

Honestly it's minimal noise that others won't hear until you point out to them. As I mentioned I use it in both open and closed water... No one in the pool has noticed or mentioned. 'what was that…

Hello, I hear that the sonar sound is really annoying with 0.5 second high pitch beep every 4 seconds. Is this true?

Once you pay attention to it you'll notice it.

If you're wearing a hood you won't notice it. Even without one after a few moments I forget about it and go a decent chunk of time before it triggers in my head again.

I was able to get one, wasn't easy to hunt one down but I did find one and had it shipped up to me.

Seems to work great I got one day of diving on it then had surgery on both hands the next day so I'm sidelined for a bit. I had no trouble with it and it worked flawlessly. Never did hear any sound from it like stated on here but in 36* water I have a thick hood on.

It still seems pretty loud.

Would it matter is we would use a longer hose and put it next to the original gauge?

Yeah, I've watched that review and have done my own. Also keep in mind he's diving in 76° water in the Caribbean.

Those of us posting here seemingly so far are diving in very cold water conditions with hoods.

It's sonar... it's going to ping... there's no way to avoid it, I've gotten used to it already after 1 month of diving in both open and confined water.

I am in 82 degrees most of the time. For me this watch is fantastic as I am also an ultrarunner. However, I don't want to annoy my fellow divers and the pinging could be a deal-breaker so I'll see if I can demo it first somewhere.I hope Garmin is able to change transducers overtime, we use them to inspect pipelines and they don't give these noises. Anyway,thanks for the feedback.

I jumped up from the FR945 once they included the music with this one. Can't beat the battery and having the onboard music for ultras is great. Minimal loss on the battery when using bit for 5hrs plus on a run.

You could run a long hp hose akin to spg through bcd and you wouldnt hear it since it points away.

I wonder if anyone has looked at how sonar may attract or disturb wildlife, more particularly predators?

Yeah, I thought about that as well but in water, sound travels pretty good so I am not sure if a few feet extra away from the ear would matter. As for animals, you see them bounce when you blow some air bubbles but usually not when you are approaching without blowing out. Even ticking the cylinder seems not to upset them let alone our other akward noises we make... I think we probably should be alright on this one...but perhaps youll be spotted by some U-boats with your new sonar...
