- Why no skydive setting for the g1? I jumped and the watch was stuck in dive mode and had to exchange. It would be nice to at least record hr and oxygen.
You can create an activity and name it "skydiving" , before you jump you activate it and the watch will not go into dive mode..... this the only way to skip the auto start of the dive modes at the Descent series.... then of course you will have the option to save or discard that activity
it will be able to measure HR but I'm not sure about the blood oxygen because for accurate measurements you must no be on the move.
Also you will be able to monitor your altitude and ambient pressure the whole time and keep gps position

I do not assume that the watch is able to convert the fall speed of 50m/s (200km/h) unfiltered into a realistic current altitude. Even a fenix has a filter built in that does not allow a current altitude reading at these speeds.
always blue skies

Right. This will not work.
I just don't want it to break if I wear it like it did the last time. I have an Ares II alti.

Good device !
No, you cannot count on this as your basic device but for sure you can try to track the activity.
The tactix which is based on fenix and the instinct tactical versions have a JUMPMASTER activity... Im not sure if fenix 6 and 7 have it but for sure the fenix 5x had it.
So I think they are build for navigation after you deploy the parachute... I think it's no harm to use them bit of course you will count on your other device!!!
The Jumpmaster activity on the watches is not really suitable for sport jumping. Or rather, it is superfluous for sport jumping. It is intended for military use. By the way, you don't need any navigation for sport jumping, because you usually leave the airplane directly above the drop zone. The field should always be in sight. Of course, you can start the navigation before exiting the aircraft and then look at how you flew on the parachute after the jump.
As a skidiver, of course, you know these watches are not suitable as the main altimeter. The display is much too small and these watches are not built for that. For this purpose, there are - as already mentioned above as an example - extra certified devices. Electronic altimeters for jumping also partly have GPS evaluations. These are especially needed for "wingsuiting", as there are more vertical distances covered. But even this function of the electronic altimeter mainly fanned for a subsequent evaluation of the flight.
The main advantage of carrying a navigation system on my wrist when skydiving is that I am always able to find my way back to the dropzone on foot if I have to make a landing outside the DZ. This can be, for example, if the main-parachute did not open properly and I had to jettison it. Then the main parachute floats slowly carried by the wind to the ground and I fly behind it on the reserve parachute to be able to collect it right away. Or at least I know then where it lies and I can recover it later. That would be an example, where I land outside the dropzone and can use a navigation for the way back, if I do not know the environment to 100%.
So no update on skydiving with this watch? I'm NOT USING IT AS AN ALTI! I just want to be able to wear it without it freezing to dive mode and having to exchange it. The other series watches have Jumpmaster mode or something. People either didn't read my post or didn't understand.
would be nice to at least record hr and oxygen.
Just start a cardio activity
