Hello Descent G1 users,

We have started the rollout of System Software 17.10 currently we are at 100% with this release.

Change Log:

Fixed dive plan not importing travel gas
Fixed issue when switching to 100% O2 diluent during CCR dives
Fixed issue where pool dives would increment the dive count
General improvements and bug fixes

Dive shows up on watch, but won't sync to Garmin Connect or Dive

I dove this morning to test some gear. I was not in pool mode. I wore a Garmin Swim HR strap under my undergarments in my drysuit. When I finished the dive, I downloaded the HR data to the watch, it said it processed and was successful. Now I cannot get the dive to sync to Connect or Dive. Web or app. It's on my watch, and I was able to sync it to Subsurface. I did a test strength workout, and that activity synced no problem, but no dice on the dive. Is there something with using a HR monitor that just blows the mind of the G1 + Connect? Sometimes I get duplicate dives (one with HR data, one without), but this is the first time I can't actually sync the dive at all.

Ice Skating Activity

I have the Descent G1 and apparently "Ice Skating" isn't an entirely supported activity.

It's a bit strange because I can start it as another activity, "Walk" for example. And then after I can change the saved activity to "Ice Skating". And it gives me the nice ice skating icon. But it's a bit of a pain having to do this every time. I just want to start the activity as Ice Skating. I realize I could just copy another activity and rename it, and live with the incorrect icon, but I don't see why I should need to since pretty much all other Garmin watches support it, and the Decent G1 sort-of does with the workaround.

I mode trail / hike the "ascent" elevation get stuck. I use the warranty but having the same problem (maybe it's the same watch) Try all different things problem stay.Im' pretty sur the the send me the same watch for warranty :( not appl

I had no plugged my watch in for 6 months.

I have it plugged in for 12 hours now and it is still showing the same things: a picture of a dead battery, and a black triangle.

I try to factory reset, soft, doesn't matter ..... I hold the LIGHT button down for 60 seconds and nothing happens.

Any ideas what steps to take next....

Descent G1 unresponsive

I have it plugged in for 12 hours now and it is still showing the same things: a picture of a dead battery, and a black triangle.

I try to factory reset, soft, doesn't matter ..... I hold the LIGHT button down for 60 seconds and nothing happens.

Any ideas what steps to take next (beside get an entirely new watch that is not a Garmin)

gpx cannot load

I am using descent g1 solar.

I am trying to load a utmb gpx for an 20k trail

even thou the garmin connect says sync

I use the app and sync

but my watch do not show the route

so online says maybe the route is too complicated for the watch

so from 700 points i used ai to simplify it to 200 points

but the watch still refuse to load

i got a feeling the watch canot do trail run at all with route.

ConnectIQ Data Fields not showing up on my Activity Data Fields list

hello, I own a Descent G1, and recently bought a Stryd Pod to record my running data.

when I go to the ConnectIQ app (and Garmin Express on macOS) > download the Stryd Data Fields > successfully install (they show up as installed and synced on the app), they still don't show up on my watch's Run and Treadmill apps' list of Data Fields..

I go to Activities & Apps > choose Run / Treadmill > choose Activity Settings > Data Screens > Add (new Data Screen) > and when i go to pick a field, the ConnectIQ Data Fields are not on the list

only: Timer, Distance, Pace, Speed, Heart Rate, Run Dynamics (I have a garmin running dynamics pod), Cadence, Power, Temperature, and Other...

I have tried adding other Data Fields through ConnectIQ beyond Stryd's, all compatible with Descent G1.. so not sure if it's a watch problem?

I have the latest firmware, I have reset, rebooted, re-installed, several times... nothing works...

any help, please?

Quitting PacePro mode doesn't seem to work

According to the latest online manual, you can quit the PacePro mode while running by long pressing the menu button and then selecting the respective option to do so. But when I long press the menu button, I don't see any such available option. Only the common options of long pressing the menu button.

Is that the case? How can we actually quit the PacePro mode while running?

Crash CPU Saturation

Hi all,

For a couple ot time my Descent G1 Freeze during boot.

I use a hard reboot to comme back to factory setup but and then it works properly but as soon as I synchronise it bot from GC or Garmin Express then the problem come back.

To say it short I can not syncrhonise my watch.

Any help is more than welcome.Thx

Alertas en apnea segun tiempo en el descenso

Como puedo hacer para que en apnea me salte una alerta segun el tiempo empleado en el descenso me lo descuente automaticamente de la alerta de tiempo de apnea total.

Ejemplo: Tengo una apnea total de 90 segundos, tiemplo empleado en el descenso 20 segundos, que salte una alerta a los 70 segundo del inicio de la immersion avisando que para cumplir con el tiempo total de apnea tengo que iniciar ya el ascenso !! y asi sucesivamente segu n el tiempo transcurrido en el descenso y mi alerta de tiempo de apnea total !!!

seria muy interesante evitar las sensaciones de bienestar en el fondo !!!!

Incorrect bottom time based on selected gas

I dive Nitrox 32 or 33%. My bottom time seemed to be appropriate for many dives. Suddenly, I have exceptionally limited bottom time. Sometimes it shows up on the computer and app as air, sometimes it shows up trimix. I have made sure I am setting my computer correctly. I also checked to make sure my altitude is set appropriately. Does anyone have any idea what may be going on? I've even tried a factory reset all my setting. Any suggestions are welcome.

Problema with the altimeter measurements

Hi everybody!

Im using the watch to run usually and there is no race with an accurate altitude measurement. I’m making almost every time the same route, I have a little hill to “climb” to see the the measurement when I go ad come backwards in this point the gps route is in the same spot, but the difference between this two points is very big. The route starts higher that it ends, even if the start and the beginning is the same…

One thing that I have to mention is that the temperature measurement is activated with a maximum 3 degrees threshold, I’m not sure if it is enough to alter the altitude / barometer.

attached in the picture: this two peaks are the same gps position.

Any ideas? Is your altitude inaccurate too?

Fake dives grow my count

I have been using my G1 Solar just for a week, but there is something that bothers me:

when I jump into the water from a big boat, the dive starts on my Garmin but not on my Suunto (keeping both for the first week). Giant stride entry.

it seems all options are unsatisfactory:

delete the dive from the watch. If I do that, the count still goes up, and when I start my real dive it till be counted as the 2nd. This will make my dive count really different than my real dive count.
try to keep the dive running. I don't know if I can, after 1-2 minutes it automatically closes it, but even then, it would be few minutes longer than reality.

is there a way to REALLY delete a dive without increasing the total count?

ps in case you wonder I'm in a group and I cannot control how quickly we start descending plus the Suunto doesn't do it, so please don't suggest a change in behaviour. It's a software issue.

All dives show in Garmin Connect but some are missing in Garmin Dive

Just wanted to share this since I couldn't find this solution when I searched but the Garmin support team was able to help.

Some of my dives wouldn't show up in my iOS Garmin Dive app but I could see them in Garmin Connect.

The solution was pretty simple: connect using Garmin Connect web, edit the title of the dive, and save. (Maybe saving is automatic? not sure)

This solved this issue and dives showed up in Garmin Dive app.

Remaining surface decompression time

I'm looking for a data on the watch but it seems that this information is not available. I know that there is the no fly widget but I'm looking for the time remaining before the N2 decompression is done on the surface(after the dive). Is it something that is available and I miss something in the manual or this information is not displayed on the watch for the moment ?

Install-uninstall watchface issue

This is the case, on my Descent G1:

1. Install a watchface, let's say A.

2. Change the phone's watchface to another installed one, let's say B.

3. Uninstall A through Connect IQ.

Result: instead of A, B is uninstalled. You have to apply A through the watch, and then uninstall it through the app to get rid of it. Then install back B.

I think it probably has to do with the Android app, and not the watch firmware. Does any of you guys have the issue? Can you confirm?

Freediving - Depth data truncated in some scenari

I have been using the G1 for a while now and while i like it a lot, one of its key feature seems buggy at times. It mostly happens when doing deep hangs but also when just doing a regular deep dive. Some of the depth data in the Dives section of the session seems skipped. See picture attached, the added green line is what the dive profile should look like, the red line is where the skipping happens.

It happens every single session on at least one dive. And is pretty annoying when i try to read proper dive data.

Any idea on what's happening ?

Descent G1 PO2 Issue - incorrectly shown

So my Descent G1 Solar is incorrectly displaying the PO2, either at the surface, or at depth.

When I check the PO2 at the surface (sea level) for pure oxygen, it's showing as 1.03, in addition, the MOD is showing as 3.7 meters despite me setting the max PO2 as 1.4, which should be 4 meters.

This might not sound like a big difference, but for us technical divers, an incorrect PO2 is an issue and can seriously affect deco times. Whilst we're primarily following the written plan, contingency plans can involve the use of the computers calculations - so it needs to be correct.

Things I have checked:

The altimeter is correctly calibrated

There are no weird storms in the area affecting the pressure.

The issue affects both single gas and multi gas dive modes

I'm running the most up to date software (17.02)

This issue was pointed out by someone else around 2 years ago, and I'm surprised there has not been a fix as of yet. For reference, my Shearwater Teric displays it correctly, i.e 1.00 Bar at the surface, MOD of 4m etc.

Garmin - please can you respond to this potentially dangerous issue?

G1 regulary deletes steps

Hello folks,

Do you also have the problem that steps are regularly deleted on your G1 Solar? I last had it yesterday that the watch showed me just under 9k steps, then I opened the Connect app, it only showed me 7.4k, so I set off to complete the 10k, the target alarm also came and everything was fine for me. Today I realize that steps have been removed again and I was supposedly only at 9.4k yesterday. It's starting to get annoying as it has now ended long streaks of mine several times. Do any of you have any idea where this is coming from or what to do about it? Garmin doesn't really offer a way to add anything to it.

I really love the descent G1 for its battery life
I've been bragging to all my dive buddies about the battery life and display clarity, and they're all jealous

My main complaint is the automatic backlight (either "Always on" or "At depth"). It's the only thing draining my battery
I really really really don't need the backlight for 99% of my dives

Is there absolutely no way to turn it off? It's very annoying to remember to press the button every time I reach 6m

Feature Request: G1 Apnea pool / Dynamic freediving

Dear Garmin team, I own a Descent G1 and absolutely love it. Since the start my main complaint has been the lack of profile for Apnea pool training / freediving dynamic training. Now that the G2 is out and I see it has that feature, can we G1 users hope for a Dynamic apnea update on our watches? Please do so garmin team! It would really make such a difference.

... even more so since www.apnea.me app is not compatible with the G1...
