How to sync tissues load between two garmin dive wathes??

For us divers sometimes is important to have a backup dive computer that has the same algorithm as our primary computer.

I am an Mk2 owner and I was considering to buy another computer to use it as a backup for deep technical dives.

Because I work in dive industry I make a lot of dives, most of them at shallow waters for training purpose.

These kind of dives are no deco and there is no need for a backup computer, but if I decide to go for a deeper, maybe deco dive I want that factor of extra safety and here is where the problem occurs.

So... if I use a G1 as an everyday day watch and I make a few dives with it and then I decide to go technical and use the Mk2 as primary..... How is possible to sync the tissue load of the G1 to the Mk2??

I don't want to wear both watches all the time so there is a strong need for the watches be able to sync with each other and share the same measurements about the previous dives!

Pls only serious answers about this topic and how it would affect you on preferring buying garmin watches if that sync feature was possible....

  • I would buy one, dive with the MK2 and check if the G1 gets that data as part of Physio TrueUp. That syncs fine for running and biking, but I can’t test diving (doing only recreational diving once very few years)

To make clear, I would not take the G1 outside but only see at home wich data syncs. If it isn’t working like you need to, that way you can return it.

  • The question I made here is about a topic that only advanced divers would care... Both Mk2 and G1 (I don't have it yet) I believe are perfect for the average recreational diver.

But while those instruments are designed to fullfil the needs of technical divers, I strongly suggest to Garmin to make them sync the tissues load...

Of course this os not so simple because one can forget or choose to leave a watch behind on the boat and then decide to take it with him on the next dive... So he had to know somehow if they are synced or not every single time... I think no company gas a feature like this yet and that will be a big plus for a diver to choose Garmin ecosystem.

    I'm waiting for your review.

If you can't dive, then maybe you can try to submerged one watch for a few minutes and let it "believe" that you are diving.... Then see if they can sync but I don't think the physio true up syncs that kind of data yet!

  • I think you misunderstood me. I understand your question and why it is important to you. I also think, it would be awesome when it syncs.

I wanted to suggest what I would do in your situation. And suggest YOU try it because I can’t do it.

  • Ok friend, I thought you said that you were about to try it... Missundrertanding!

Well maybe someone will try it in the meanwhile...

  • I am planning to dive the x50i and the MK3i at the same time. I understand the question and will see if the data shows in the other when I only take one. Another issue people are concerned with is that the two computers both log the dive in the app so you end up with two dives where there was only one making your logbook a bit of mess. It woulud be nice if there was a way to avoid this as well. I have asked for advice on this subject from Garmin but no response yet.

  • It would be really helpful if Garmin watches could sync dive data between models like G1 and Mk2. That way, using a backup dive computer would be safer and easier without wearing both all the time. I hope Garmin adds this feature soon!

  • Agreed and if they would allow two to be worn at the same time and allow you to choose the data from the one that is either giving more data or some other criteria that would be better. So it doesn’t log two dives.
