D2 Mach 1 Pro glances not showing nearest airport

Recently got the D2 Mach 1 Pro and love it so far.

One strange thing, the watch face glance right now is showing me METAR from an airport 20 miles away but not the airport I am standing at right now.

When I go to select airport -> nearest -> nearest airports, it correctly shows the airport I'm at along with the distance.

But for some reason, the glances are showing the airport 24 miles away.

Note that the airport 24 miles away is not my favorite or anything like that. No idea how it picked the other airport

TITAN-XE OP here. Glad to hear your problem was solved.

I never had the same problem as you. That is, I always got METARs, I am just getting METARs for the wrong (not nearest) airport

I am facing a similar challenge with Mach 1 Pro. Since December, it no longer displays info for the nearest airport, or any airport. It no longer displayes airport METAR info either. I have tried resetting, reinstalling, updating and trouble shooting with garmin support with no success.

I'm on a D2 Mach 1 and facing exact same issue since mid-January.
Reset, reinstall, updating, clearing cache, etc. Nothing works.
Based in South Africa, and no airport or metar data is pulled. Tried setting an EU airport and that worked... for a few minutes and then data goes blank again. Tried the same with a major US airport, and same thing again - it worked initially but a few minutes later data goes blank again
Not seeing a lot of reports on this so was wondering if it is a thing with my watch only...

So just got a call from a Garmin Dealer based in RSA.

From an RSA perspective, apparently this is most likely related to the cyber-attack that affected the SA Weather Service recently. The SA Weather Service are still struggling to get certain systems back on line. Numerous Garmin Aviation Watch users in RSA have now complained about the same issue.

From my side, I will need to ride it out for the next few weeks, hoping they get everything up and running.

OP here. My watch shows METARs just fine. The problem is that the METAR that is displayed is not for the airport that is nearest to me, but rather another airport that is sometimes very far away. Like the location is not being detected correctly when rendering the glance.

Aha - that could for sure explain this issue!
Thanks a bunch for running this down!

Just hoping SA Weather Services will fix this soon - but I probably shouldn't hold my breath :-(

When I try the METAR app from ConnectIQ it works fine and finds the nearest airport.
But again, there's no data from it...

Hi,

Looks like it has been fixed over the last few days.

Both my devices are now showing METAR data including nearest/favourite airports.

Hope the same on your side.

That problem is not yet solved, and I confirmed I'm running latest firmware
