Battery drain each night at 4 a.m.

Hi, I have a Garmin D2 Delta which is based on the Fenix 5. Recently, the battery drains overnight and the watch shuts down at 4 a.m. each night (last monitoring of sleep and hart rate). When I go to bed around midnight, the battery is always more than 90%. When I wake up, I need to recharge the watch from 0%. I have no special apps running and the watch is connected through bluetooth with my phone which is on the bedside table. Anyone with an idea on how to resolve this? thx!

  • I'm having significant battery drain too.   It happened right before Thanksgiving for a few days, returned to normal for awhile, then started again yesterday.    For example, I charge to 100% before bed.  I wear the watch and wake up with less than 20% batter life left.   I'm needing to charge 2x a day without doing any activities using GPS, etc.

In a 1hr meeting my watch went from 54% to 40% just sitting in a room.   This isn't an issue of backlight or other tweaks recommended in the battery life article.   I wondered if the  battery was failing, then it worked just great for a couple weeks.   I wonder now if there's something the watch is trying to do in the background (like an update???) and is stuck?

I did a full factory reset the last time this happened and it didn't seem to help.   The issue just resolved itself a couple days later.

  • I have exactly same problem, for the last 4 days the I charge my Fenix 5 during the day and shuts down at night (around 1:00 AM but not fixed) and in the morning when I notice it's off and put it on is on 4% and manages to stay on for another half a day before I charge it again, this happens even in day when I don't use it for activities. Before I could get more that 1 week of battery with 4 runs a week.
