D2 Air default face information display issue

My watch's face stopped displaying the default airport information and cardinal directions. The time is still displayed and correct. There is a cloud symbol with the downward pointing arrow at 12 o'clock, though. It has done it once in the past and corrected itself within a few days, then the issue re-emerged some 2 week ago and hasn't gotten away since.

I will, although that shouldn't make much difference: my local a/p is KSLC, a large Class B hub. And it was working in the past.

I need to add something: it looks to me that the watch doesn't obtain the Metar information. This must be the reason why I don't see it on the mail watch display. I installed the METAR/TAF app (I had it in the past and it worked fine, but I had to reset all the apps) and it will NOT display any METAR data: it gives me a message 'Waiting for BLE connection' ... what is it? (btw: I went outside to get the full view of the sky, but it doesn't appear to be the GPS connection issue).

Fixed! I reseted the bluetooth connection and all works!

The issue of the missing data on the watch face happens when the airport/nav data is updated on the device (every 28 days, as per the AIRAC cycle). This also causes the waypoints widget to either show no data or default to the first entry in the database, rather than your chosen station. To fix this, simple turn your D2 Air off then back on again.

Regarding the METAR/TAF widget, it is the superior way to access METAR and TAF data for sure. ;)

I have the same issue. How did you reset the bluetooth connection?

Actually, the problem turned out to be not BT connection per se. The watch loses most of its functionality if it is not actively connected to your phone, i.e. Garmin Connect MUST be running on your phone. Of course, that means that each time you walk away from your phone, your watch will be sending 'vibes' that it is disconnected. All in all, this dependence (phone-watch) makes some of the watch features superfluous (why not simply use the phone for checking your METARS?).

My D2 Air finally showed watch face METAR and Widget METAR/TAF again after going outside to establish a GPS signal, opening up the Garmin Connect App on my iPhone, and syncing.

I wonder if the iPhone Connect App must remain open all the time for the watch to update the weather data. I hope not.

Thanks for the info. The watch is more aesthetically attractive than my Apple Watch, and the aviation functions are great, but sadly the D2 Air's interface and connectivity is so much more cumbersome.

Yea... I find this watch quite disappointing and not worth the price.
