D2 PX does no longer connect to Garmin Pilot

My D2 Delta PX watch does not connect to my Android Garmin Pilot.  It connects just fine via Bluetooth at any other time which can be verified on Garmin Connect.  When I start Garmin Pilot on my smartphone it is initially still connected.  But when I start Connext from Garmin Pilot, the watch disconnects.  It is nor longer connected to Garmin Connect.  It then asks to pair again from the smartphone’s Bluetooth setting.  When I do that I get a message “Connext active – Pairing disabled”.  I tired everything restetting each device, turning Bluetooth on and off, changing the Connext setting on theD2 in every possible combination – no luck.  When I am done with the Fly activity on the D2 and shut off Garmin Pilot on the smartphone the watch connects automatically again without a problem.
