Don’t have info on when, but I asked DC Rainmaker, he said most certainly D2E will be released.
The D2 development team is small (I believe it remains at just a single developer)
This may explain a few things from the diving end of things.
The MARQ Aviator is out since beginning of Oktober, so I don't think there will be a D2 Echo
Actually, the MARQ Aviator has been out since March 2019 or so. However, the MARQ Aviator…
I don't think Marq is in the same category as D2. It is not marketed as a pilot watch.
I would think they would make an aviation watch based on the Fenix 6 platform like they have historically done after the release of previous Fenix models. I don't believe the MARQ Aviator is based on the Fenix 6 platform as the F6 was release months after the MARQ aviator. So, I would think that something would be coming, unless they abandon the D2 series and now only move forward with the MARQ Aviator as the sole option for an aviation wearable.
Odie21, you mentioned that you may be going to DEMA 2019 in another post. I think it starts tomorrow. I'm curious to see if they announce the next version of the Garmin Descent diving watch, as it may correlate to the release of the next D2. Although, I have not heard anything on the next D2 or Descent up to this point.
The new MARQ Aviator is out since 1st of October and is based on the Fenix 6 Technology as far as I can see.
It is a pilot a watch, so if the technology is ready why isn't the cheaper D2 version out now?
My best guess is Garmin is trying squash bugs associated with Fenix 6 (especially the heart rate sensor). They may release D2E when they have a decent F6 firmware.
There was a firmware update released in October for the original MARQ Aviator but I don't see anything that would indicated that there was a new version of the MARQ watch itself released in October that would have been based on the Fenix 6, but maybe I am missing something.
Possible, but why shall thy wait, while they can update the Firmware over the air anytime.
The D2 ist likely the smallest series, a bug on the Fenix 6 would create more noise than on the D2.
Maybe the D2 is coming, maybe the want us to buy the much more expensive MARQ Aviator.
You might be right, the MARQ Commander was released by the 1st of October, the Aviator could still be based on a former Fenix version.

I think that the firmware for the MARQ devices have been updated to include some/most/all (?) of the Fenix 6 software features, including glance views. This is what might be causing some confusion. This is not to say that the MARQ is based on the Fenix 6 hardware though, only that the MARQ now shares common functionality with the F6.
You can always tell when a new D2 hardware device is coming out because the time between firmware releases for the previous device (in this case D2D series) increases or becomes non-existent.
If you take a look at the Fenix 5 Plus forum, where the users are basically the guinea pigs beta testing the D2 Delta firmware (apart from the aviation-specific parts), there are quite some issues in recent versions which Garmin probably want to fix before releasing a new D2 Delta firmware.
