I really want the Adventurer/Expedition watch but the SW functions are 7 months older than those on Fenix 6X. Anybody who could persuade me?

The stable is 6.00, the beta is 6.72.
You can get the latest stable automatically when you connect your watch to Garmin Express, the beta can be manually installed, more details are here:

I own the adventurer and black (commander) and I love them. I also own the Apple Watch series 5 and use it occasionally. I keep switching back to the Garmin Marq watches because of their awesome battery life, build quality, and capabilities. I’m not as familiar with the Fenix 6x but I’ll tell you that I purchased the black after the 6x was announced and I did it because it’s slightly smaller and lighter with better build quality. I hate huge watches, I’ve got nothing to prove. I want a discreet watch that can do anything and the Marq delivers. Just my personal opinion.
As have been said, the F6 and MARQ are in synch when it comes to software. I have the Expedition and enjoy it quite a lot. So far so good. I did experience some of the early bugs, and downloaded the beta software. Garmin have fixed the bugs that did impact my use cases, and the responded rapidly as I shared findings with the beta team.
I use the MARQ 24/7, and log on average some 11 hours of activities per week. The map is great for trail running and MTB routes.
Looking forward for plenty of action with my MARQ!
