MARQ - UI / SW issues

Decided to start a fresh discussion where everyone can post frustration with the UI, Widgets and/or software glitches.

I think Garmin shall really step up their game and address most of the annoying little bugs which I wonder how they even shipped a product on first place having all these issues.

1. Here I start with some annoying UI/ Widget POOR graphics, when I say poor, I kinda mean it, my 8 year old can draw better using his hands.

2. Now on the software side,I already mentioned that my Aviator is missing important for me widget, the ABC. Had the device reset few times paired with different handsets but that widget simply doesn't exist.

3. In addition, one of the most-frustrating issues is the fact I need to pair and setup the watch with Connect App every time I power cycle it.

I am not even going to start the titanium bracelet discussion but for $2000 watch.... this is what you get after a week of use, USE and NOT ABUSE !!!

  • Funny - Just tried that and you are right!

  • still looks great after 2 weekst 24/7 usage Relaxed

  • All watchstraps with the same metal will scratch the same way. Metal is strong but not hard like glass. You can find many things on your desk to scratch any metal watch.

This applies no matter how expensive it is. In fact more expensive ones with lightweight titanium or decorative gold will often scratch more easily than cheaper but heavier mild steel.

  • Hi, what kind of blue rubber eraser are you referring to will work the best to remove scratch for satin/brushed titanium bezel on the MARQ? Thanks

  • George is 100% correct.

There are dozens of YouTube videos and online guides to show you how to easily remove scratches from high-end titanium watches if you want to do it yourself. You can also take it to a jeweler who has more professional equipment, though that might only be necessary for deeper scratches.

  • grade 5 Ti is fairly scratch resistant (i have a daily driver Bathys Benthic Ti which looks good after 5 years), but I believe the Marq is grade 2 so, yes, easily scratched.  As for other expensive watches, Sinn makes its divers out of bead-blasted submarine steel (anti-mag, anti-corrosive, harder) and then you can get it "tegimented" which makes it about 4x harder than steel, and if you get it PVD'd, that gets close to ceramic in hardness without being brittle or shatter-prone.  Damasko also makes their watches out of “ice-hardened, nickel-free stainless steel” which is similar, although not as hard.

Anyway, point is, if someone is looking for an all metal watch that won't scratch get a Sinn tegimented PVD'd diver or Damasko diver ... but the grade 2 Ti as in the Marq will need to be maintained like many have mentioned.

  • the brezel would be difficult i think.

    its kind of circle brushed...

just buy a normal rubber like for kids in school...we have here eg Pelikan (TM)...these red/orange and blue rubbers

use the blue side in direction of the brushed surface.

    its just for micro scratches...

i make that once a month for my wristband now...and it looks like the first day

I don't know if this is an issue for Marq Series watches or mine specifically, but I have two watch faces that are supposed to show the weather. However, when I go to my Garmin Connect app it doesn't even list the options to enter a weather API key. Obviously, both watch faces just show the NO GPS info, respectively. Of course I've started a workout until GPS completion, not that I expected that to work since I can't even enter a weather API key. So my question is whether these watch face developers need to do something different to allow weather to work on the Marq Series watches (I have an Athlete by the way), or if it's something going on with just mine and others are having success with such watch faces? Both watch faces work fine on my Fenix 5X. Maybe I need to delete them from my 5X or something? Some kind of issue with only being able to have one per account or something? I don't know.

I was also having an issue with auto-step goal. It wouldn't change from the same exact step goal, but I changed it to manual and entered 10,000, then immediately changed it to auto-step goal and it seems to be working today as it changed it to 10,350 for today. I'll keep monitoring it.
