First Hike With The Expedition

Did my first hike with the expedition last weekend. Around 4 hours in Navigation mode. All sensors were turned on to collect data every one second. Lost 21% battery over the course of the hike.

Very impressed. The watch itself feels sturdy and looks rugged. (Especially with a vintage leather strap I put on.)

I’m getting a Tempe for more accurate temperature readings, I felt the Marq was a bit high.

Note: disregard laps, I kept messing with buttons and accidentally hit the lap key a few times by accident.

  • It's a handmade strap I've had for years. The maker is retired.

However, if you're looking for some rugged and worn looking leather straps, there are plenty on Etsy for low cost. I actually like a lot of these: https://www.etsy.com/market/stitched_watch_strap

Important to keep in mind - if you change to a non-Garmin quick release strap you'll have to use different pins than the ones that come with the Expedition. The standard pins do not have a spring that is accessible with a tool while a strap is on it.
