Google Assistant reminders not popping-up on the watch

The way I understand, the reminders dictated to Google Assistant are sent via Google Calendar app.

I did enable notifications from Google Calendar in Garmin Connect, and the appointments are popping up just fine.

So for example, if I dictate "OK Google, make an appointment to hang the washing in one hour" works fine. It pops on both the phone and the watch.

However, if I say "OK Google, remind me to hang the washing in one hour", it pops on the phone fine, but nothing on the watch.

I'd rather use the reminders, as they are more intuitive and easier to set - does anyone know how to fix?

Thanks! Slight smile

then you also have to allow google assistant to send notifications to the watch

  • Thanks for the suggestion, it's just that Google Assistant is not on the list of individual apps in Garmin Connect... I thought initially it's coming from Google Calendar, but doesn't seem like.

I ended up enabling notifications from all the apps as a workaround, which resolved the issue.

I just went through this same exact issue. I fixed it by making sure  the "Google Now" app is selected in the Garmin Connect App Notification menu. If "Assistant" is selected but "Google Now" is not, it will not work. Hope this helps.

  • This has recently been driving me crazy, and this is the only place I've seen anyone flag it. I used to have "Google Now" as an app I could allow notifications for, through the Connect app, but that's now gone. Now, Google Assistant reminders are coming through the "Google Assistant" (app??), for which there's no actual app to enable. Do others have such an app they can enable notifications for thought Garmin Connect?

I've tried allowing notifcations for every app in Garmin Connect, and still nothing.

Really frustrating, as it used to work perfectly, and I rely on reminders for so many things...

In the Garmin Connect app notification menu, Google Assistant is listed as "Assistant" only. Make sure both "Assistant" and "Google Now" are selected to receive notifications.

  • Thanks for your reply. Weirdly I don't have "Assistant" (or "Google Assistant") as an app, so can't enable that. In any case, I've enabled notifications for every app, but still not having any joy.

Interestingly, my brother also has a Garmin watch, is having the same problem, and also does not have "assistant" in the Apps list in Garmin Connect.

  • Same problem here on my Fenix 6 and Galaxy Note 10+

In garmin connect app notifications I have enabled "Assistant" and "Google Now" (?!) but still no notifications for google assistant reminders.

I am quite sure the google assistant reminders are routing on other paths and they are not included in Assistant or Google Now. Maybe Garmin should look into this.

  • I have the same issue with a xiaomi a3 and a fr230.

This is a garmin issue. Garmin does not show "Google" as an app which sends notifications. Other apps which can access notifications, can catch notifications from the Google app.

I have found a workaround which is working for me: i have installed the app Macrodroid. With this app, one can create macros, which trigger an action when a certain trigger condition is met.

I have created a macro whose trigger is the "Google" app notification. And the action is to launch an own macrodroid app notification, with the same title and text as the Google notification.

Garmin connect is able to catch this macrodroid notification.

Thanks for the tip.  Macrodroid worked!  This has been driving me crazy.  Hard to believe Garmin has not figured this out yet.

  • I am having this same, months later. The reminders I make through Google used to work, but have stopped popping up on my watch for the last couple of weeks. I'm not excited about making a workaround, but I might give macrodroid a try if it isn't too complicated. Is there a way to flag this issue so Garmin takes note?
