Battery life after the outage
Battery life after the outage
It is also described very clearly and comprehensibly directly on the Support site of Garmin, in the document What Is Smart Recording vs. Every Second Recording on a Garmin Fitness Device?
Yep reddit is full of users complaining about this..weird thing that it's not affecting everyone...I wonder if Garmin is aware.
Just tested with my Instinct..from full charge to shutting down only…
Ultratrac mode = epic fail
The default setting for data recording is Smart and not Every second. This may severely impact battery life. Check this under Menu-Settings-System-Data recording.
How the two methods compare by the way? I assume smart uses less battery but would that also mean less accuracy?

Some discussion regarding this, for example: https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-6-series/223924/fenix-6-series---9-00-public-release-candidate/1057571#1057571

I always use smart and never had any accuracy issues even when I trail run

Well I did resetting, all the updates, moved and removed the watch from garmin express - all that bla-bla. End result: nothing changed. So went to the retailer, after 4 days got a new watch. When being curious they did not not mention the error reason, just gave a new watch. Obvisously theres's something more to it.
My retailer also replaced my Instinct after a week, not complaining..
