I think that is not fair to the consumer.
Personally, I see no unfairness. It would be unfair if the product description, in the time you purchased the device, promised the features you want to have added…
You are completely right. Instinct and Instinct Tactical are the same devices and really cheap move from Garmin. For me total disrespect of the customers. Same as ridiculously short charging cable or photoshopped…
I think you got confused, the garmin first edition is identical to the garmin tactical
That's right, but in your opening post you explicitly referred to the new edition:
The new releases Garmin tactical, garmin tactical Solar, Surf, Camu have several updates, and I wonder if any of them could be added to the first edition. Updates such as: new WATCH FACES, STEATH MODE, BATTERY ESTIMATE LAYOUT IN% PERCENTAGE OR DAYS and NIGHT VISION.
But even if you mean the old Instinct Tactical, then I do not see why it should be unethical, selling a less expensive model with less features, and a more expensive model with some added software features. Oppositely, I am glad I could have bought the cheaper version, since I do not need most of the tactical features, hence am glad I could have saved a few bucks.
Anyway, there is a difference in the hardware between the tactical and the standard version, too - minimally the display is different - the tactical version uses a display that is readable with night-vision devices, while the standard version does not have that option.
