Steps When Slept 3.20

Hi,
When I updated to 3.20 I noticed that I will have steps when I have slept and laying in my bed without have taken any steps. 66 steps was somehow recorded today and yesterday about 20 steps.
????
  • Considering that steps are based on vibrations from the watch, a slightly restless period in the middle of the night can cause this. The flip side is if you are pushing a shopping cart with your watch arm, you'll lose steps. Considering that you typically count 1,000's of steps per day, that's not really a major distortion.

Also, since Garmin doesn't start registering steps until you've taken 10 in a row, there are times when it drops steps because you walke 9 or less and Garmin discarded them.

It's the nature of the beast of a counter on your wrist.

Okay, thx for the information. So this isn't because of the new update?
  • Presumably Garmin makes adjustments to firmware to try to improve accuracy and functionality. However, if they change the way the device interprets movement and vibration, it could affect the result. Sometimes updates can mess up a good thing but the numbers you're experiencing are small enough to not worry about it.

My step counter said 07 steps one time. It counted 7 steps from waking up and going to my bathroom. So my watch seems to recognize even if you take less than 10 steps...
  • You got now the solution to create a sleepwalking activity. ;-)
