Instinct Solar Powers Off

My instinct solar constantly turns off, I've done the reset, I have more than 10 days of battery life left, it appears this is a common fault with the instinct solar, are Garmin going to actually fix the issue or are they just hoping that owners go away & purchase a different brand?

It was suggested I contact product support, their response was make sure it was fully updated & do a full reset. If the issue continued then take pictures of the front & back of the watch & provide proof of purchase.

Then before any replies, Garmin has locked the old thread so nobody could add any further comments.

SO, the watch updates were all done, I then did a full factory reset (including deleting all data), the watch still turns itself off, not as frequently but it still does it.

So now I've sent product support a copy of my proof of purchase, photos of the front & back of the watch, let's see what happens from here, but it appears that Garmin locking the previous thread, they don't wish people to see what's occurring with the solar instinct watches.

  • exactly same thing happen to me , a Hong Kong user. Got the watch Oct 2021, situation happen in Jan 2023 (15 months after use), asked HK, hilarously asking me for HK$940( USD120) for replacement price  ... so i have no choice either to give up the USD 500 value i paid for , or watch it reset several times daily.  will never buy this brand again honestly, very disappointed

  • Hi can someone put a update about these issues as mine is steadily getting worse when on a run normally 2 miles in it starts turning off

  • My watch warranty long expired. I tried a few watch repair places and all said that only Garmin can fix them because it's a sealed unit. I sent it to Garmin for repair and paid the charge. They told me that my watch can't be repaired and offered a 1 for 1 replacement for a fee (£135 roughly I think) Since I had older version of instinct solar and it was no longer produced they gave me the latest Instinct Solar watch without paying extra. At first they offered it in White, but I refused and asked to give me the same colour as before Dark Grey, they were happy to give me what I wanted. The problem was with faulty battery that has deteriorated prematurely. They said this is quite rare.

  • Thanks for the reply. Not great considering my watch is only 2 years old when it started turning off, had put this down to me accidentally knocking while running but have now googled and it seems quite a few people have had similar issues.

  • It was about 2 years before mine started doing that too. I was upset too. However, in the end I got a better, newer watch at a fraction of retail price.

  • I've asked Garmin if there's a possible fix via email and if not hopefully a repair.
