Slow battery charging

Is there anyone who has experienced excessively slow battery charging?

I tried different chargers, both on the wall and on a pc via usb, nothing changes.
Plus 26% battery after four hours plugged into the wall socket.
Any idea?
  • Have you tried resetting and restarting the watch?

  • Of course I tried. I am posting on the forum as I have no more ideas. Tomorrow I will contact support.

  • Maybe another Mr. Obvious answer, but have you checked the recessed area around the connector on the watch for dirt?  I wear my watch in dusty/dirty environments and have used a toothpick to dig out crud that has built up there.  The charging plug won't fully engage if there is enough build up in there.

  • Yes i did it. Upon visual inspection, the cable appears to be ok. The watch connector is also ok, plus it is always protected by a rubber cap ...

  • My watch always take around 3 hours to charge

I always charge my watch via the usb port on my laptop. And the charging speed is about 1% per minute.

  • That sounds like a faulty cable or watch connection. It should charge more quickly than 26% in four hours.

I've had inconsistent charging rates - and yes, it's slow. I've been measuring it Slight smile

    • The first time it averaged 3 minutes per percentage gain - using a wall charger. The time varied throughout - faster then slower then faster again. 4 hours 37 minutes from around 10% to 100% charged.
    • The next time it took more than 5 minutes per percentage gain (fairly consistent rate) - again using the same wall charger. A bit over two and a half hours to go from 70% to 100%.
    • The last time I charged it via the USB port on the laptop and it took an average of 3 minutes for each percentage gain (fairly consistent rate). An hour and 6 minutes from 78% to 100% charged.

(I wonder if the cables don't have great quality control, or maybe the connectors don't always connect properly. I'd love to have it charge at 1% a minute. That's closer to what the Fitbit Versa does.)

  • I've now realised my cable was faulty as well. It keeps disconnecting when plugged into the computer, even if the cable is moved only slightly. I've ordered a replacement cable from Garmin Support and hope that sorts it out. (When it's working it charges much more quickly than I reported above.)

  • im having the same issues, my instinct solar takes 24 hr to get to 100% did you get an answer? mine also connects and disconnects itself from my computer and the connection when its in the watch doesn't sit correctly, very woobly, ill give it a clean and try again. is there a lot off issues with faulty cables?
