Can't activate In Reach Mini: The user object contains invalid values...

i have tried several times - in three different browsers

i keep getting this error message, so i can not activate my new device

the message is : the user object contains invalid values

this is very annoying...

I would call support, but they are closed.

is there anything i can do?

  • Had the exact same issue as everyone else about invalid values, plus a new one (pic below).

No offense but this is very basic form entry setup that I would fix on my lunch break at work. It's not a good sign that this issue has persisted for so long. Will be returning our Inreach to Costco if we can't get it fixed soon, have a long drive coming up in a few weeks and need to find a solution that works.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, and any support staff that are trying to provide solutions..

  • On step three I see error, which prevents me from activating my inReach mini 2:

    • The user object contains invalid values.'

This doesn't make any sense! This issues exists for how long? Customer support today closed, I'm returning this expensive malfunctioning device back.

UPD: I signed out and signed in again, I was redirected to step #4 to continue activation. I'm very disappointed with such poor quality of service.

  • Leslie hi new owner of mini 2 having same issue on set up - the user object contains invalid values

  • I'm getting the same error when trying to activate the device. What is the solution?

  • I'm getting the same error- What is the solution besides I've contacted our engineering team?

  • Had to use a 2nd email to activate and subscribe but wanted to use my main email but it was still hung up. Sent details via online chat support and they submitted a ticket. Received an email this morning that the change has been made. I dont have my garmin with me but the account looks to be all fixed!

I think it originally hung up because when connecting to the sat I had to go after 30mins or so and tried it again later.

When i changed email and connected to the sat i just left it on outside for hours while I worked. When I came back it was done.

I probably should have given it more time the first go to avoid the troubles. ..or some type of message saying what %has downloaded or a minutes remaining indicator.

  • The outdoor portion of activation is just a short exchange of messages. No high volumes. And nothing that will take long - IF the servers have their act together.

When you start the outdoor portion, the device:

    Acquires a fix.

Sends an activation request message. This eventually lands on the Garmin servers, which will (if working correctly) match the device with an account having a subscription. Sends the activation message back to the device, identifying the subscription level.

Receives an activation reply and is now ready to use iR features.

When there is no sand in the server gears, this usually takes 5-10 minutes MAX.

  • Same issue - "the user object contains invalid values". Contacted support and was told that there is no timeline for when this will get fixed but they will add me to the ticket.
Very disappointed. This is obviously not an inexpensive item and purchased it for an upcoming trip and now I have no idea whether it will be up and running before I leave.

  • I have to agree with this. But I don't know what else to suggest other than the support ticket. If you can get somebody on the phone, you can try asking to be escalated to the next level (ask to speak to a supervisor). But I doubt that it's going to help. Garmin has clearly decided that they don't care about this issue.
