GPSMAP 86i does not update pre-written messages in explore (sync done)

Hello Garmin forum

My GPSMAP 86i does not update changes made to the pre-written messages in explore

When I do change a pre-written message in Explore/messages and sync my GPSMAP 86i with Garmin Express

the pre-written list on the GPSMAP 86i remain unchanged ...

Is it the right way of doing it ? 

do I miss anything ?

    What type of message are you talking about? Preset or quick text?

    Also confused as to what you mean by "explore". Do you mean the web site at explore.garmin.com or the Explore mobile app?

    IF you mean the web site, changes you make there SHOULD be transmitted to your iR device the next time you sync. That said, I do not believe that Garmin Express sync's messages. You need to use the Explore mobile app for this sync.

    explore is the Garmin Explore web site where we manage Inreach devices and inReach  information and account

    As I said , I made modification to quick text messages on explore web site on my account

    I will sync with my mobile using the explore app later today and let you know

    Well ... done a sync with Explore mobile app ... quick text still not update :-( 

    I have modified a preset message just in case, it was not updated either :-(

    Reading the manuals and help pages Garmin Express is supposed to update the messages as well as Explorer mobile app

    maybe its time to call Garmin support team ...

    Yes, please open a support ticket. There have been similar reports about the 66i.

    There were also reports of problems syncing contacts with the Explore app and the 66i. Those were apparently resolved with a new version of the Explore app. This was on iOS. YMMV if using Android.

    You should check to be sure you have the latest version of the app. If not, update and try again.

    There is lots of confusion with regard to what syncs when you use Express, Connect, the Explore app, or (for devices which still support it) wired sync with the desktop sync program. I have stopped paying attention to anything other than Explore app and wired sync. This is not to say that some of the others do not work - just that life is too short to try to keep track of all the variations Slight smile
