Downgrade firmware

After updating my Fenix 5 I an experiencing very fast battery drain. I have restarted the watch more than once.

Before upgrade I could usually charge the watch every 8-9 days but after the upgrade I have to do so every 3-4 days.

I am only seeing "ghost shadow" when ever I start an activity or connect the charger.

V. 25 made my watch more or less useless.

How do I downgrade to the previous version?

Regards,

  • How do you reset the watch? System - Restore defaults? Then you pair the watch again to GC?

  • You can reset all of the device settings to the factory default values.

    1. Hold MENU.
    2. Select Settings > System > Reset.
    3. Select an option:
      • To reset all of the device settings to the factory default values and delete all user-entered information and activity history, select Delete Data and Reset Settings.

NOTE: If you have set up a Garmin PayTm wallet, this option deletes the wallet from your device. If you have music stored on your device, this option deletes your stored music.
      • To reset all of the device settings to the factory default values and save all user-entered information and activity history, select Reset Default Settings.

  • Thanks for the info :). Im having a battery drain issue. Im getting 5-6days in watch mode. I tried to downgrade the FW, I added the gupdate.gcd file from system backdate folder in Garmin folder and disconnected my watch from PC. I didnt get any prompt. When i connected the watch again, I wasnt able to find the file in Garmin folder. Did i miss any steps.

  • Not 100% sure what you mena but the gcd file should be placed in the root of the garmin folder where your maps are and nt any other folders.... if it did nothing then I can only assume that it is due to already being on that firmware and it deleted the file as not needed anyfurther... But I may be wrong...
