25.0 update killed my Fenix 5S

Plugged in my watch and Garmin Express updated Fenix 5S to 25.0 and it killed my watch.  The watch is now stuck on a setup screen.  Can not get it to reboot or exit the screen.  Walked through several reset steps with Garmin phone support and they were unable to get the watch to reboot into a normal working mode.  Their response was "Fenix 5S is old, you need to buy a new watch".  Very upsetting that an update killed my 5S.  Any way to roll back the update or get the 5S back working.  A new watch isn't in the budget & it was working before the update.
