Hi,
Training load is calculated, VO2max is not calculated. What you could try is to use the walk activity for the uphill sections which calculates VO2max.
BR
But since the watch is unaware of what conditions are on the trail (i.e. how much resistance the terrain gives), the VO2 max calculation in such a scenario will make absolutely no sense. There is a reason why vo2max calculation is done for selected sport types only (and even these work on many assumptions).
It never makes sense it's about identifying trends.
And Vo2max measurement on trails will be rolled out soon to the latest watches (not our old Fenixes of course).
it's about identifying trends.
Not quite. Vo2max is a precisely defined absolute value. And even if all you care about is identifying trends, then those trends would only work if you exercised in the same terrain conditions all the time. For example things like snow type and depth affect your pace very significantly, and the watch does not know what kind of snow you walk in, and how much resistance it provides. How, then, could it decide why you move slowly? Is it because of snow or are you out of shape?
And Vo2max measurement on trails will be rolled out soon
I bet it will work reliably only when certain conditions are met, and will give unpredictable results in many cases.
Hi all, thanks for your replies.
It's more about training load than VO2max.
It seems that the efforts are not considered in the training load and trainig state calculations.
I did a skimo basecamp everesting last saturday, 6h45' of ascent with 90% of threshold HR and the watch says recovery state...
I collect training load at ski tours.
Did a very hard ski tour and had 5.0 as training effect that day. My training load spiked accordingly.
Hi,
the training effect is shown in the activity details
But not considered in the training state calculations
That's weird. I must admit I use the cross country skiing profile for recording my ski tours. Maybe that's why my training load is impacted whereas yours is not? Which profile are you using, Didi_N?
Ok, should try that too. As I saw a few others doing exactly the same, recording as XC.
I'm using a standard Garmin "Skitour" app
