After 20.0 update battery life is terrible. It’s the same as after upgrade 15.00.

Same here. Battery last 3-4 days with nothing installed.
Just wanted to add that after some trepidation I installed 20.0 on my Fenix 5. Everything is fine, usual drain is around 0.2-0.3% per hour with Rails watchface.
Thinking about going to Suunto.....
I used to love Suunto. But now? They lost their way.
Suunto 9 (baro) is enormous. And it’s quite old.
Suunto 7 is a WearOS device. So batterylife of 1 or 2 days
Suunto 5 has more features than a 9 but has it’s flaws. Most important: screen readability.
And then there is the backend and app software. They started from scratch after movescount but a lot of features aren’t there yet.
You could look at Polar. Except if you need navigation. Grid X has it, but only with komoot routes (which come with a paid subscription)
unfortunately Garmin is the least worse option at the moment. At least for me.
For me, is just because i bought fenix 5 for baterie duration, and now its lossing 20% or more by day, without any activitie. Im charging my fenix every 3 days.....
Yes, I feel your pain. I’m also on a 3 day charge cycle with my forerunner 935. That used to be at least a week (with up to 10 hours training with gps)
For me, the gps usage is to high, with 10% per hour. Normal usage is also higher than it used to.
Garmin is really software development. They fix some minor bugs and introduce severe new ones. With every new firmware.
But in the end, garmin is the least worse option. Suunto used to be great, but has lost it. Polar lacks some functions I really use much.
what can you do about it?
Interesting
My 5X went from losing about 3-4% a day to about 10% a day after FW 20 with no other settings/activity changes.
Same here with my 5X, I noticed almost immediately that the battery wasn't performing right after the update. Usually tracking two activities a day without GPS and I'm seeing around 20% a day battery drain when I could usually get away with around 10% or less. I am running the SC8 watchface, but I have been using that since I got the watch almost 2 years ago without issue.
Our engineers are currently looking into this issue. For those that see this post, please respond in this thread to these questions:
1) Do you have any Connect IQ watch faces on your Fenix 5X/Tactix Charlie watch?
- If yes, are the watch face(s) on your watch, 3rd party Connect IQ or a watch face we have on Connect IQ?
2) If you remove all Connect IQ watch faces off your watch, does the fast battery drain issue resolve?
Thank you!
1 - yes , using HandsFive
2 - not tried yet
