I just upgraded my Fenix 5 to software v15.1 yesterday and so far have only lost 3% charge in 24+ hours! (Knock on wood this trend continues!) This is after monitoring battery drainage over the prior 7…
@thr4 Nearing end of life?
With a 3 year old device and average 1 charge a week means 150 charge cycles
No, the battery should not near it’s end of life. It should be able te do 500 charge cycles without…
fully agree with the batteries. Charging (shallow) can actually increase the lifespan, lithium batteries start dying fro the moment they are made.
Check the barcode on the Garmin for manufactures date, then add the time they kept it in stock, then add the battery manufacturing date and how long they kept it in stock.
You get 3/4 years from a smartphone battery, because it's charged daily, it's like a muscle if you don't work it, it withers.
If you go on other forums (fitness watches) there are many complaints about decreased battery life after 18 months.
Garmin had to seal it to get the waterproof rating
"If you go on other forums (fitness watches) there are many complaints about decreased battery life after 18 months."
I know those complaints from smart watch forums which you charge completely every day, best case every third day. Every complete charge cycle counts, and Fenixes should not get problems for years and years, at least not from one firmware version to the next for so many users.
Mine is 34 months old and no problems at all regarding battery life, <6%/h during GPS activity and ~6-7%/day with rails watch face, always on seconds and HRM
FW12.0
I got 15.1 through Garmin Express app. Attached watch to my PC for charging and downloaded it.
I noticed that my battery drains way faster when there is a software download going on from my phone. Otherwise, 6%/per day if there are no activities for the day.

What do you mean by this?
In Garmin connect you click on your watch icon at the top when it's connected, it takes you to the watch page. Sometimes there's a progress bar right under where it says fenix 5x connected, and it says "downloading software"
