You are comparing a premium brand (Garmin) to third party Android phones that cost $100-$200? These watches cost $600-1000 and should be compared to an Iphone or even Pixel which get 3 years of updates…
Don't be sad. If you were buying FENIX6, in the end it will have the same faith as all of the garmin devices. So, no more new features(garmin have to milk the new cow, fenix6). Keep and enjoy your
…It would be cool if the 5 at least got some of the layout/OS display changes that the 6 has, just to bring it a bit more upto date/inline. Not necessarily the features, just a fresher feel. Personally…
It’s not about the screen resolution though. F6s is the same resolution as F5.
As long as people keep buying a new version of the watch for a few extra features, Garmin will keep its terrible business policy towards the customer. The same discussion can be found in the Fenix 5 plus section: forums.garmin.com/.../garmin-will-be-better-update-older-fenix
As you mentioned, the F6s is the same as the F5. There are many other watches in both lineups which they can't ignore if they change one.

The pacepro is a very nice options. It is only a software update.
Is it possible for the F5X to have the expedition mode? Considering the hardware differences?
Just a little comparison....Garmin is supposed to be a premium brand like Apple...well Apple watch series Gen 1 is getting Watch OS 6…the watch was released in 2016
