No GPS on Fenix 5x

I am not getting any GPS signal on my Fenix 5x. I performed all the troubleshooting steps found in Forums and Garmin support page. Any ideas?

What does your outdoor swim activity look like in your Garmin Connect account vs. your Strava account? It will tell you if your issue is your Fenix 5 series watch not recording the GPS course…

You have to give us some more info what steps you have already taken.

How do you know your watch does not get a GPS signal?

Report here in the forum all the software version numbers you find in the about menu on your watch !

Check while in(open one) an outdoor activity if the GPS is tuned off or on ?

Did you start an outdoor activity ?

Did you see a red ring or green ring around the bezel ?

Is your watchtime in sync ?

R/. When i choose any outdoor activity, i don't get the GPS color changed from red to green.

R/. Software version 13.40, GPS version 0.00 (previously was 2.50).

R/. Is red, hardly a ring, it never closes.

Is your watchtime in sync ?

R/. Yes

PS. I called Garmin support, i mentioned to the person that I have performed all the troubleshooting, testing with other peers who own Garmin's and they all get signal within seconds (next to me on the same place), I even did a soft and hard reset on the watch.

I am also getting the GPS error when trying to calibrate the Altimeter and Barometer, i get "GPS signal is stronger outside ......." and I am trying to calibrate them outside.

I tried upgrading the sotfware version to Beta 13.51 and did not help.

i would take a look at the GPS version 0.00! Although this has occurred in the past, I have not seen any reports of it with the current build(s). Perhaps the GPS version update failed. Did you mention this to Garmin Support?

Right now it shows GPS version: 2.50 (i read it should be higher), i have not been able to talk to them since there is a waiting time of over 1 hour in the call.

gps is now 2.50 instead of 0.00 as it should be ?

sync the epo via Garmin Express

go outside for a walk and test it

Don't know if it should be 2.50 or higher. EPO is current. I have been outside for quite some time and won't work.

a stubborn F5x it is

power cycle or do the long press and hold light button until your screen goes dark

again go outside or put the watch on a windowsill with an open outside activity

when no change call Garmin Support again

I have the same issue. Every time I go for a swim it start the open swimming app and it goes green, I stop it when i return and save it. When I view my swim on Strava it does not pick it up, only the time, no distance, no lines where I went. Any suggestions on what to do, other than buy a better watch?

Given this thread is over two years old and it doesn't look like you actually do "have the same issue", you might have better luck starting your own thread to capture the attention of people with a similar scenario to compare. With the OP, he was not getting a GPS lock (green) while you are. It is always possible your issue is with Strava. I would suggest you provide more details - what shows up on the watch history for the activity? Does Distance show up on the Garmin mobile app or web page for your account? Any issues with other types of activities? What type of stroke are you doing? I rarely use open water swim and do not use Strava so this is the best I can do.
