Fenix 5 with 13.40 update high battery drain

Yesterday I received the update 13.40 for my fenix 5 wifi (with sapphire glass). And the battery was discharged by 10% within 12 hours (no GPS usage today). The same problem existed before, but the firmware 12.30 fixed it. And the battery drain was OK about 7-10% within 24 hours.

Does anyone have any idea what to do? I have already restarted the watch, which did not help.

Same here, after update extreme battery drain, during night time around 12% gone, and watch just lying on the shelf, so no measurements at all, total nonsense

I just did step 8. I ignored 1 to 7 as they are for the beta. Just pasted 1 file and it went back to 13.30. Since 21.30 till now 11.30 next day I have 1.4 % drop which is how it used to be.

    Hello everyone,

I have exactly the same problem.

Updated to 13.4 last weekend, full charge on night (7h) and 17% battery consumption in 24 hours.

1h race today and just 5% battery consumption which seems normal.

It is in watch mode that it consumes a lot.

That's just my stone in the building. Hoping that Garmin corrects this quickly, I'll go back to 13.3 me.

My mistake, it's still about three times worse than 13.30.

  • If you are seeing these things, please reach out to the Garmin Support teams since we would like to look into this more.

Hi,, nothing to tell really. Stock watch, nothing added default everything. It just uses more battery.

    Hence I am using 13.30

Watch is a week old. My first Garmin...

  • Thank you for this solution. I have the same problem after 13.40. Huge battery drain of 30% after only 18 hours.

I downgraded to 13.30 and now all is normal again. 10% battery drain in 36 hours. I have watch faces, widges and notifications activated and also had a short 15min walk with GPS since last charge....stil only 10% drain after 36 hours.

  • I had this issue but now it's resolved.I made an hard reset and charged completely my watch but not used my computer to charge my watch.i used an electrical outlet.

I hope it will be ok for you.

Same problem. Battery drain is 20% per day. Updates are evil, will turn off when the issue is resolved.
