We continue to investigate this issue, but do not have a solution. As a temporary workaround, the watch will update distance if you are able to sync with Garmin Connect Mobile, Garmin Express, or plug…
Everyone, we are sorry for the delay but I'm happy to report that in the current 14.73 beta software has a fix for the Zero Distance Issue.
Feel free to install the beta software and report in the…
I now have a 5x Plus so I no longer have this issue. However, syncing my 5x with Garmin Connect mobile did not work, nor did plugging it into a power source. The only workaround that did work was plugging…
This seems to confirm previous reports we've had on this and other threads:
1. Fenix 5x Plus used to have this bug during beta phase, but it was fixed before release version. Somehow the fix isn't…
Yes, we are speaking about the same problem.
*Edit*
I reset my activity and my distances are back. It seems that 13.40 DOES fix the zero distance issue. I’ll keep checking
I moved on to the Fenix 5X Plus some time back, but I am still rooting for this issue to be fixed for everyone still affected. It's been a long time.
It definitely has been a very long time, and a very tedious bug... still not fixed with latest update. Come on Garmin, stop working on Fenix 6 for 5 minutes, and fix this bug!
Totally agree, latest update still not fixed it. Software version: 14.10. I bought a tactix Charlie about half a year ago. Faced this "always zero distance" bug in navigate app recently. I'm very glad I found this thread!! Also shocked to see that many people have the same exact problem like me. Even now.. But at least there's some kind of workaround for it. Not too happy with it tho, considering this watch did cost, well.. way too much. Hoping for a real fix & thx for the support!
it's working now on my fenix 5x with 14.1. What I did: Updated to 14.1
and updated also garmin cycle map and topoActive maps.
After this, I deleted all garmin map stuff (because I don't use them); only left gmapdem on the watch because that's neccesary for altitude calculations.
Instead of garmin maps I use the free openmtbmaps and I'm very happy with that maps for years.
Now routing is working again, also after restart the watch
So you have 14.1 but you use some other maps than those installed/updated directly from Express. That's fine and I'm glad it works for you! So maybe with custom topoactive maps there's no bug? But considering that all I ever done is updating from Express so I use everything "straight from the factory"and it still gives this bug.. frustrating! Still there should be a fix for this from Garmin.. without the need for tinkering manually with maps. :-/
Yes, it's working with other maps but before updating it didn't work with that maps too.
I'll test the standard maps from garmin later but I think they will also work now at my fenix 5x
Ok, tactix Charlie here, software 14.10, updated maps from Express.
Zero distance bug is still present, only USB connection sets it back to working. Syncing with Connect Mobile doesn't set it back. If the watch restarts itself after a software update or I manually restart it, the problem comes back again.
This watch costs $750 (now) so this bug is an absolute nonsense... get a fix for this in 14.2 or sg, or at least make it possible to set it back with a Connect Mobile sync... One is simply not always around a PC or some USB connection. This watch is an outdoor thing after all...
