We continue to investigate this issue, but do not have a solution. As a temporary workaround, the watch will update distance if you are able to sync with Garmin Connect Mobile, Garmin Express, or plug…
Everyone, we are sorry for the delay but I'm happy to report that in the current 14.73 beta software has a fix for the Zero Distance Issue.
Feel free to install the beta software and report in the…
I now have a 5x Plus so I no longer have this issue. However, syncing my 5x with Garmin Connect mobile did not work, nor did plugging it into a power source. The only workaround that did work was plugging…
This seems to confirm previous reports we've had on this and other threads:
1. Fenix 5x Plus used to have this bug during beta phase, but it was fixed before release version. Somehow the fix isn't…
i wrote to the support too. they told me, it's a known problem, but they are searching for a solution.
one more question. do you have a mac or a pc?
New owner and bought my Fenix 5 to use for navigation so am finding the fact that the distance to saved location is always zero, that the heading bug won't point in the right direction and that it seems to want me to be on any nearby road when walking across open country more than a little frustrating, given what I paid for the watch. Is there any kind of fix for this as under UK law this would appear to be "not fit for purpose".
I have a Mac. But this is independent. The error occurred even before I connected the watch for the first time to the Mac.
If you can still send it back, use this opportunity. We have all been waiting for months for a solution without any success. Even replacing the watch did not solve the issue.
So after a month of using my 5x with 11.0 with 0 problems (including 3 hiking trips), my watch suddenly decided to auto "update" itself back to 13.30 , even if I had disabled all the auto update options. I am guessing it was showing the update available prompt and if you do nothing at that prompt it will update itself at midnight
And guess what? At 1pm navigation is now showing 0 again. It just took a couple hours to reproduce the issue.
Why is this apparently obvious software regression taking so long? After half a year of waiting it looks very likely 11.0 will be the last usable software version for this model.
On the positive side, now I know that at least you can revert to 11.0 then upgrade back to 13.x without bricking the watch.
Once you sync your watch via pc, how long does until the problem comes back again? This a huge problem for a navigation watch. I havent been able to get out much lately but I took a hike today and noticed the issue. I couldn't believe its still an issue months later.
until you restart your watch, or your watch restarts itself.
can sombody tell, if 13.40 fixes the problem?
it seems so: I got the problem after almost every connection to my PC. After the update to 13.40 I tryed it three times without any problem.
