Fenix 5x Western Europe map will not update, its showing Western Europe 2.0 is available for update but I keep getting there was a error installing this update, I know this is an issue previously reported on this forum and fixed for others, any ideas?
it actually starts downloading: you can check the log file I mentioned. AND you can see a growing folder under C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Map\Map_Map.ActiveEU.2.0\RMU\ACTIVEWEU\2_0
Just bought Fenix 5x and hit the same problem. Out of the box, Western Europe 2.0 will not update because there is not enough room on the device.
Western Europe 2.0 is 3.30 GB and after updating all the other maps, there is only 3,03GB storage space left on the 5x. 300MB more space on the device would be needed just to get the maps updated (but would need even more space to record activities and so on). TBH not the unboxing experience I was looking for.
The same problem here in Finland, bought 5X early November and reported to local Garmin-help about this problem. Nothing ha s happened. Last post from them in my emails dated 3.12.2018.
2 PCs, 2 different networks, v6.11.1.0 Garmin Express, FW v12 for my Garmin Fenix 5X.... and still always impossible to install the visible map update "Western Europe 2.0" :(:confused:
Error message is always the same in the top red banner of Garmin Express "There was an error installing the update." :eek::(
Please Garmin do something as it is the same problem since month now...
I just bought a Fenix 5X and have exactly the same "There was an error installing the update." and can't install Western Europe 2.0
This is extremely annoying - I live in the UK and this stupid watch has installed all the latest maps around the world apart from the one map I need to use?! Garmin needs to get their act together. The software is extremely buggy. This is just one of countless bugs I've had to deal with since purchase and I only received the watch today. They are also massively throttling the download speeds of their updates and there are constant error messages when downloading anything. I can't believe you guys have been waiting months for this to be sorted out. If we seriously can't download and install the latest maps for our region, then I'm going to return this watch. It's not fit for purpose and Garmin reps need to respond to this thread immediately.
Also - I have updated to the latest 12.3 Firmware - it has made ZERO difference - they are clearly doing nothing to address this problem.
I have also contacted support and they just say that I already have the correct maps. I have not been able to verify that but it is annoying since nothing has happened for months.
After i update the FW to 12.40 and try du update my "Western Europe 2.0" map, after an Error it was lost. I can not see this Map How can i get back "Western Europe 2.0" Map? Any idea?
DonManfredo you have already updated to Topoactiv 2018.20. this is the newest one. Du bist schon auf Topoactiv 2018.20 das ist die neueste Version von West und Ost europa.
